AITA for refusing to cover for my girlfriend after she cancelled our plans?

I’m a 25-year-old guy, and my girlfriend is 24. We’ve been together for almost two years. Last weekend, we had plans to visit my parents for dinner. It wasn’t a huge event, but my parents had specifically planned the evening around us coming over. My girlfriend knew about it for over a week. A few hours before we were supposed to leave, she told me she didn’t feel like going anymore because she was tired and wanted to stay home. I was disappointed, but I told her that was fine and that I’d go by myself. Then she asked me to tell my parents that I had gotten called into work unexpectedly because she didn’t want them thinking she was rude or unreliable. I told her I wasn’t comfortable lying about it. She got annoyed and said it was just a small excuse and that I was making it into a bigger deal than it needed to be. I ended up telling my parents the truth without giving them all the details basically that she wasn’t feeling up to coming and I would still be there. She found out what I said and was really upset. She said I embarrassed her and made her look bad in front of my family. I told her I didn’t think I should have to lie just to protect her from the consequences of cancelling plans. Now she says I should have had her back, even if I disagreed with her decision.

AITA?
