After Seeing the New Short Story...
Aside from general Bridget fatigue, it just really bothers me how much Unika has, in the eyes of the fanbase, just become "Bridget's girlfriend". Go on a YouTube video about Unika, see the comments from people thinking they're funny by making some thinly-veiled joke just to say "haha they're banging". Look at the amount of fanart of Unika with Bridget, then compare it Unika on her own. Or, more frustrating, the amount of Unika with Sin, when both Dual Rulers and especially Unika's arcade story have demonstrated that Sin is her best dynamic. I'm not saying that Bridget and Unika don't have a connection, but compare it to Sin and Ram. In a sense, Sin acted a similar role to Ram that Bridget did to Unika, a fun role-reversal dynamic, but neither character is incomplete without the other. But with Unika, it's like being next to Bridget is now the default.
I think ArcSys handled it well initially, seeing as Unika's arcade story didn't feature Bridget at all, but with the Short Stories, I worry that they're just now pandering with yuribait by just defaulting to Bridget instead of doing something crazy like, I don't know, finally giving Unika any interaction with her parents. You see Tekken fans concerned that Kunimitsu now having a connection to Reina will lead to their characters being reduced solely to each other, like what happened with Asuka and Lili, and I don't want the same thing with the character I play.
