3 yr. old male cat peeing outside litter box
Hi! So my boyfriend moved into a family member’s house with his 3 year old, neutered cat about 4 months ago. He had never had any accidents outside of the litter box in the almost two years of having him, but for the past couple months he’s been peeing in small amounts around the house. He has no medical issues and no trouble peeing in the actual litter box (we have watched him do it). The household he’s moved into does have 3 other cats and 2 dogs…. He and the only other male cat are constantly competing. The male cat that was already in the household has a history of peeing all over the house, so it’s not surprising that my boyfriends cat has sort of caught on to this habit & is presumably trying to establish his territory.
I know it’s unlikely that this habit will change until he’s in a household with no other animals/cats to compete with, but does anyone have any advice at all? We’ve been using enzymatic cleaners on every spot we find but at this point just looking for any suggestions at all.
