My OC Kahl

My OC Kahl

Figured I'd share a pic of my finished Kahl. I'm not a particularly good painter; but it's perfect for my tabletop use.

This is my own OC, Kahl Kara Vektorn. My personal narrative is she's a mercenary that trades her Prospect's combat services for salvage rights to the battlefield after a conflict.

Short Story / Narrative Battle Report

This is a short little story recounting my first battle of 11th edition - hope you enjoy.

That planetary governor had thought he'd pulled one over on Kâhl Kâra Vektôrn.

He had sold the salvage rights to the abandoned outposts on Xeres IV knowing full well that the Aeldari held some kind of vested interest in the planet. Kâra had expected there to be a catch, though she hadn't known what it was. The price had been an absolute bargain, and one that would put her Prospect comfortably into the green.

Ever the pragmatist, she'd stationed only small security detachments alongside each work crew while keeping the bulk of her force aboard her ship, Endless Opportunity, ready to deploy by teleport crest. It was the more expensive of the contingency plans she'd devised, but she suspected lightly defended crews would draw the enemy into the open.

The crews had barely begun work when the first reports arrived.

Hernkyn scouts had spotted blue-armored figures slipping between ruined hab-blocks. When the pict-feed reached her she frowned. She had expected Orks, perhaps even a Bane infestation; not Aeldari.

She knew little of the race beyond archival records. What she did know was that they were fast. Faster than any foe she had previously encountered.

Before she could even reach her Hearthkyn and engage her teleport crest, the reports were already flooding in.

Enemy contact north.

Enemy contact east.

Shots fired.

Casualties.

A brief pict-record appeared on her display. It showed a colossal being of living flame striding through one of her Prospect's positions, great sword raised high. Luckily before it could strike, a storm of conversion beams punched through its molten form as every Thunderkyn in the vicinity unleashed fire simultaneously. The monstrous being collapsed to the ground.

Kâra closed the feed with a measure of satisfaction.

At least they could be killed.

She joined her Hearthkyn, activated her teleport crest, and the world dissolved.

Teleportation remained one of the League's greatest achievements. It was also profoundly unpleasant.

She materialized in the heart of the fighting and staggered a moment from the disorientation.

The Brôkhyr from the recording now laid scattered around the landing site, their bodies riddled with impossibly thin monomolecular discs and neat laser-bored wounds. Kâra marked each location on her datapad for later recovery before turning her attention to the battle. They had earned their places with the Votann.

The Hearthkyn were already forming ranks.

Ahead, blue-armored warriors with towering crested helms huddled among the shattered ruins.

"The Ancestors are watching!" Kâra roared, raising her axe.

Ion fire and plasma bursts erupted from the Kin line. The enemy folded beneath the barrage, frail bodies broken by disciplined volleys. Only one survived; an especially ornate warrior carrying an elaborate banner. It twisted and flipped effortlessly through the storm of fire before disappearing into heavier cover.

Kâra assumed it must be their commander.

With the immediate threat dispersed, she checked the casualty reports.

Rurik's unit had suffered grievously.

The Hernkyn detachments had taken losses across the Prospect.

If forced to abandon the operation now, the ledger would bleed red.

The Aeldari had to be driven off.

"Kâra to Titan's Fist. Coordinates incoming. Proceed immediately. Maximum speed."

The acknowledgement was characteristically brief.

Looking east, she spotted Grimnyr Rurik and Theyn Wigmir locked in combat with a tall Aeldari woman whose long crimson hair streamed behind her.

The Grimnyr was entirely on the defensive, every scrap of his psychic talent devoted to rebuilding barrier after barrier. The Aeldari shattered them almost as quickly as he raised them. Between her relentless assaults, Wigmir darted forward with his plasma blade, only to have every strike effortlessly turned aside.

They lasted far longer than Kâra believed possible.

Then the duel suddenly ended.

One impossibly precise sweep of the alien's blade cut them both down.

The debt indicator on Kâra's datapad chirped.

The red-haired warrior turned toward Kâra's position but paused beside her fallen comrades. She carefully gathered small gemstones from each corpse before moving on.

An odd ritual to conduct in the middle of a battle.

There was no time to dwell on it.

A thunderous crash erupted to Kâra's left as Titan's Fist burst through the walls of the ruined structure. The land fortress ploughed forward at full speed, crushing masonry beneath its immense wheels.

The ornate Aeldari commander never had a chance to even react.

The transport rolled directly over the slight alien. Bone and armor crumpled beneath dozens of tonnes of adamantium before the fortress thundered onward without slowing, its heavy rail cannon booming into the remaining enemy positions.

Wheeling about, Kâra ordered her Hearthkyn to prepare for the remaining swordswoman.

The crimson-haired Aeldari had finished collecting her gemstones and advanced with terrifying purpose.

Before she could close the distance, the Arkanyst accompanying the Prospect emerged from cover.

He levelled his esoteric weapon, wound its power regulator to its absolute limit, and fired.

Blinding cyan arcs exploded from the barrel.

Lightning crawled across the woman's armor, each impact heating the wraithbone until it glowed white-hot. The uncontrolled discharge leapt into the surrounding ruins, reducing stone and steel alike to incandescent debris. The weapon shrieked in protest. Its casing glowed red. Kâra could see the Kin operator suffering burns through his gauntlets, yet he never lowered his aim.

Only when the weapon finally exhausted itself did the lightning cease.

The red-haired warrior sagged, supporting herself upon her blade.

She met Kâra's gaze.

Then she screamed.

It was unlike anything Kâra had ever heard. The sound pierced flesh and thought alike. She shut her eyes against the agony.

When she opened them again, the warrior had vanished.

Whether dead, fled, or spirited away by some Aeldari trickery, she could not tell.

With both their leaders gone, the remaining Aeldari melted back into the wilderness as swiftly as they had appeared.

Silence settled over the battlefield.

Kâra allowed herself a slow breath.

The losses had been costly, but manageable.

The Prospect might yet remain profitable.

As though determined to contradict her optimism, an Aeldari aircraft screamed overhead in pursuit of its retreating kin. In one final act of vengeance it unleashed a storm of lance fire into Titan's Fist.

Brilliant beams punched clean through the Hekaton's armored hull.

Five perfect holes.

The great fortress ground to a halt, smoke billowing from its ruined frame.

The debt indicator chirped once more and she winced.

Kâra stared at the figures on her datapad, recalculating twice to be certain.

Then she opened a channel to the entire Prospect.

"It's a profit."

Cheers erupted across the vox as every Kin on Xeres IV celebrated the sweetest words a Kâhl could utter.

Looking for "melee" Memnyr Strategist Conversion Ideas

With the change to heroic intervention in 11th I want to get a brick of 6 melee steel jacks with a memnyr leading them; thing is I already own a strategist for my ranged jacks unit. I really hate when I have identical duplicate models in my army, so I'm thinking about how I could convert a strategist to have a different sillouette. Given they'll be leading melee jacks I though maybe it'd be cool if they were "armed" for melee as well - most simply maybe just having a plasma knife and pistol out instead of doing the "pyramid hands" pose. Just curious if anyone has done a conversion on there memnyr and got it to look pretty different.
