Earthshaker

Hello everyone,

I’ve pretty much finished my 1,000-point Space Marine army and would like to start building a little fun Votann army, focusing specifically on Berserkers and the Detachment that grants them Deep Strike.

Here are my three questions:

Are the Earthshakers really worth it? I really like the model—it’s almost a little diorama in itself—but I’ve also read quite a bit suggesting that they aren't actually very good. Does anyone have any experience with them, and could you perhaps tell me if they make sense in a 1,000-point army?

Also, generally speaking, how many Berserkers is a reasonable number to include in a 1,000-point list?

What should I use to compensate for their weakness in ranged combat? I was thinking about taking Steeljacks, as I really like that model too—or would Thunderkyn be the better choice?

Theoretical judgement token return for 11th

Curious how my fellow kin would like to see judgement tokens return. While i dont *hate* our current army rule, it definitely needs some major tweeks. Mercenary Oathband is moving it in the right direction. That being said, how would you guys bring back judgement tokens?

A dedicated detachment? Sprinkle judgement token rules throughout other detachments? Bring it back as the army rule and have prioritized efficiency be a detachment? Any input from people better versed than myself in the balance of the game would be appreciated as well.

What would be your ideal 1000 points/2000 points army list?

I’m looking to expand for my Votann army but don’t know exactly where to go next. I have the malesotrm box (6 steel jacks, menmyr strategist, 3 pioneers),and I was told the combat patrol is also an excellent next step but I’ve seen a lot of people say that hearthguard/ einyr champion aren’t really worth their points. I’ve also been told that the land fortress is a must have. What should my next purchase be? I want to get into proper competitive play also so I’m aware rule of cool can’t go all the way

LoV in Warhammer skulls?

So we know the kin will feature as a NPC enemy faction in mechanics 2 and we might see them in an update trailer but do you think we'll see anything else LoV in skulls presentation? An expanded roster for tacticus maybe?

The dream would be in total war 40k or dawn of war 4 but that's absolutely copium.

11th edition additions

What are your speculations?

Based on what we are missing:

Fast attack: I would like to see a Votann hound master or something to that degree. Dogs with similar traits to cloneskiens.

Super heavy: a large walker tank in the style of an at-at with arms. Either a gun platform thats ridiculously tanks but shit in melee, or similar to the votann walker from BL3

Dreadnought equivalent mech with designs like the ones floating around. More elite than heavy.

Lastly, I'd like to see a character or two for the other leagues to provide some variety in HQs.

I made a Warhammer 40K name generator covering loads of factions

I’ve been messing around with a little Warhammer 40K name generator and finally got it to a point where it feels pretty decent.

It covers a load of factions and styles, lets you pick male/female/any, and you can optionally add faction-style titles and affiliations like chapters, dynasties, septs, regiments, houses, etc.

It’s not using fixed character names, so it should be more useful for naming homebrew characters, crusade forces, RPG characters, kitbashes, custom warbands and that sort of thing.

Totally unofficial and just made for hobby inspiration.

Here it is if anyone wants to try it:

Would genuinely appreciate any feedback, especially if any faction feels off or needs better name styles.

From Kitbash to Painted Berek

I finally got around to painting the slight kitbashed Berek I posted about a month ago. I think he came out pretty good.

Votann or Tau?

Hello fellow beards and beer enjoyers, I'm a big high technology fan along with having a passion for artillery, big guns and high firepower in general, and it usually lands me playing dwarfs in a lot of different games and universes, but in wh40k votann seem to lack most of these things in comparison to other factions like tau, which really draw me in with giant mechs loaded with guns and general extremely high tech aesthetic.

I also like votann a bit more than tau lore wise, I prefer my units to be motivated by pure greed and capitalistic profit rather than some "greater good", and I already bought a bunch of votann units because I'm a compulsive buyer of any plastic produced by James Workshop.

So the question is: should I wait for James to release based dwarf technological advancements (if it ever happens) and expand my bearded men collection or is it more rational to switch to blue anime men who already have all the possible cool tech available?

(Seen a similar post here earlier and thought that I also had the same question)

My league! (And looking for some perspectives)

Here are my white/orange/dark blue space dwarves! Regretting my decision to paint my Kahl metalic bronze instead of keeping him uniform, but i feel its a pretty good paintjob so dont want to scrap it. What do you think?

My first mini vs my latest mini (about a year apart)

Well, to be precise, that grot is not my *first-first* model ever, that would be LotR Moria Goblin in like, 2004. I was 11 back then, so I don’t really count it. I’ve moved to Warhammer Fantasy Battle later and left the hobby circa 2008-2009.
After many many years I’ve decided to come back to painting minis to do something fun and artsy, but not connected to my job (I’m an illustrator). Anyways, after 15+ years hiatus in hobby I consider myself a novice, so yeah, that grot is a first mini, really.
