100% Increase

In shock. Just had an email to say the VIP membership will be going up to £12 a year. Previously it was £6 and for that you received a discount on books plus a free book or audio book. While it isn’t a vast amount on the scale of things, it’s still a 100% increase. Make sure you turn off auto renewal folks if you decide it isn’t for you any more. I don’t buy that many books in the year to warrant keeping it. Only saving grace is that they emailed me first which I guess they have to do anyway to comply with the law.

Libby No Longer Used By My Local Libraries.

It had been a while since using BorrowBox and Libby and at first neither worked. I contacted my local Borough’s Library services and had a very fast response for BorrowBox which was down to my not using my library for over 12 months.
When I tried again with Libby, it kept saying it couldn’t connect to my library, so again I emailed. This time I was told they no longer use Libby and all the books I had in my library or on request would be on BorrowBox. Sadly this is not the case.
I wondered if anyone else in Greater Manchester, England (or anywhere for that matter) has had this issue?

Kobo Elipsa 2E

Just bought this after a lot of deliberation and I’m loving it.

I already have the B & W Libra which I believe is hard to get if at all now.

I bought the Kindle Scribe mainly so I could read the Siddur on it during the services, and I wanted a larger screen. This however didn’t go to plan. Whatever method I used plus the various conversions it would not work (square boxes where the Hebrew should be, or the placement of the nikkud at the side and not underneath the letters. I then found out through various groups and forums that the Kindle is very poor in this respect and doesn’t really support Semitic languages (someone had a similar issue with Arabic). This has now been returned.

So far everything has gone perfectly. My Siddur is readable, I have found no lag when using the stylus. I’m having a lot of pleasure experimenting and using it.

The only issue I have yet to come/do, is that I will have to download my highlights and notes etc and manually re-do them bit by bit on the Kobo. Despite this I wish I had migrated sooner to the Kobo. 😝
