Computer beeping every hour on the hour while plugged in - very confused by this?
Pretty much what the title says. My HP Pavillion (Windows 11) is letting out one singular beep every hour on the hour while plugged in and I don't know why. It doesn't matter if I'm using it, not using it, if it's on or powered down, it keeps letting out one beep every hour on the hour
So far I've tried (and please keep in mind that I'm not super tech savvy I'm doing my best here)
- turning it off and on again
- turning off my volume
- turning off all notification sounds/putting on do not disturb
- checking to see if I have any alarms set (which I do not)
- checking for updates (it's up to date)
- I also have the task manager open and am watching that but I'll be honest, I'm not totally sure how it works. I can see my CPU ranging between 3% and 10%
It's otherwise behaving normally, I don't understand why it's doing this, and my brain is starting to jump to worst case scenarios. If anyone has any idea why this is so/troubleshooting I can try, please let me know! Any help is appreciated 😄
(also, not sure if this matters, but this laptop is mainly used for writing so I don't think it's a malware thing from a game or download but I'm not ruling that out quite yet)
UPDATES: Ran battery and operating system diagnostics, both came back normal. Storage is fine. I have no clue what's going on
UPDATE #2: All diagnostic tests came back normal, and just found out my sister's watch has been beeping in her room (right next to where I keep the laptop in my room. Didn't know she had a watch LMAOOO) Laptop's been plugged in my room all day except for an approximately two hour change of location during which I didn't hear the beep. Keeping an ear out for this still though and will update if something's still up)
