Bumped up to "Senior", why?

Hi folks!

I was contacted by a recruiter for a "Product Designer" role (UX/UI...). Did the whole process and ended up getting an offer. On my offer, it says "Senior Product Designer" and not "Product Designer". Does anyone have an idea as to why someone would get that title instead? I didn't even ask for it.

Also, what expectations would you imagine they have compared to not giving me the senior title?

I'm guessing I got the title since I managed to negotiate close to the top of their budget for the role. Also I have the senior title on my LinkedIn. I'm just a bit confused as to why they'd give me that title voluntarily. I'm not going to ask since it would make me sound insecure.

Thanks!

Negotiate offer or accept?

I keep reading about people getting their job offers rescinded after trying to negotiate an offer...

So, I was recently sourced for a position that is not yet open. After multiple rounds of interviews, it looks like I'm close to getting an offer. I'm used to negotiating hard and it has paid off before - but do you dare to negotiate in this market? I'd prefer to be fully happy with the compensation so I can stay long term, but obviously don't want to lose the job this time. Note that this is in Europe, and also a fully remote role which makes it more competitive.

Pleeeeease help me. Especially you who know the European market.

-- Background: I'm a senior in tech, designer, and currently have a two year gap due to parental leave. I was laid off prior to that and am now looking for my next job. I'm not in a financial stress but it would be nice to get something now.

How hard are you negotiating in this market?

Hey everyone,

I’m a Sr. Product Designer/UX in the Nordics, close to getting an offer for a role I really want. In this competetive job market, I know I'm incredibly lucky to even have this opportunity.

The recruiter sourced me directly before listing the job. It's unlisted and I check almost 100% of the boxes, so I feel like I have some leverage. They gave a budget of €63k – €75k and I told them I expect the top end. Since I know €75k is achievable, I'll be disappointed with a middle-of-the-road offer.

I usually love negotiating, but I kind of don't want to overplay my hand and lose a job I actually want. That said, I do want the top of the budget and other benefits. I plan to hold out for that €75k max, push for 30 days of vacation (if their standard is 25), and demand/ask for a standard collective pension match if their baseline is low. Perhaps even more things. Note that this would be a good salary in my country.

For anyone who negotiated a role recently:

  • How hard would you push for both max cash and top perks given the current climate?
  • Did companies push back harder on the base salary or the extra PTO/pension?
  • Any regrets about pushing too hard, or leaving money on the table?

Thanks for all your thoughts!

The recruiter sourced me directly before listing the job. It's unlisted and I check almost 100% of the boxes, so I feel like I have some leverage. They gave a budget of €5.3k – €6.3k/month, and I told them I expect the top end. Since I know €6.3k is achievable, I'll be disappointed with a middle-of-the-road offer.
