Garmin is restoring my faith in myself
I know Garmin metrics can be brutal sometimes, so I was fully prepared for emotional damage when I switched from Apple Watch. I’m trying to seriously work on my fitness and health lately. I’m also a smoker, and I only started running recently — at first I was literally choking on my own breath after a few minutes, so my confidence was… not great.
Then my Apple Watch died, I had about a month without any smartwatch, and finally got a Garmin. After reading so many posts about Garmin giving people horrible VO2 max and sleep scores, I was convinced mine would be catastrophic. Instead… my VO2 max came back as 45?? And this morning I woke up to a Sleep Score in the 90s. Honestly I was shocked. I genuinely expected Garmin to humble me into the ground.
It weirdly restored some faith in myself because I realized maybe I’m actually doing better than I thought, even if progress feels slow day to day.
Did anyone else have the opposite experience from what they expected with Garmin? Like it either boosted your confidence or absolutely destroyed it?
