Anyone else love/hate Whammy Pedals?
Hey guys, over the last few years I’ve developed a bit of a love/hate relationship with Whammy pedals. I really like the functionality, especially octave up 1+/2+, octave down, or blending octave up/down into the normal signal. It’s something I use sometimes in riffs or just to fiddle around.
I’m not really into divebombs like RATM solos or deathcore style funny noises during 000 chug riffs, so I don’t actually need the expression pedal that much.
What really annoys me though is the size. How do you deal with your Whammy? Do you keep it on the board or next to it? I always feel like a Whammy takes up half the entire pedalboard.
Do you guys use alternatives?
I’ve been experimenting with the Double Dragon lately, which is pretty nice, but obviously it doesn’t have the same polyphonic tracking as something like the Boss Poly Shifter, which is currently my idea for a setup together with the Double Dragon.
What alternatives are you using, or how do you deal with this gigantic pedal?
