Help me with this machine ?
Help, is there something special about this machine?
So I went to an estate sale today because I saw the picture of a black featherweight case sitting on the floor. I thought that if you were selling a featherweight you would prominently display it, because it could take in good money. In my head, I figured that the machine might sell rather cheaply. So, I got there by 7am and waited 2 hours in line to get there first to see it...BTW even at 2 hours early I was 4th in line ☹️
I when I get in to see it, I start really looking at it. They want $255. It isn't in the best condition, and I am talking myself out of buying it when another shopper comes up to me and offers to buy it from me for $300. I'm still wavering in my head unsure whether I would purchase it or not. when she asks me why do I want this machine. I tell her I have always wanted one with the scrolls on the face place. Her response was, if you just want any featherweight I have ones you can buy. So my obvious next question is "why do you want this one so bad?". She kinda scoffs, if I tell you then you won't sell it to me.
I immediately decided to buy it, just to spite her. Is there anything special about it? I looked up the serial number, it's 1946. I can only find this is one of early years after the war that production was back to normal. Do you know anything special about this model?
