So excited to have my Union Special 52900 BHZ finally operational!!
This machine was stored under not great circumstances for a few years and the humidity took a toll. It require an extensive disassembly and clean up. Most of the issues were with the table but even the head started to develop some rust.
After getting it back together it took another month to get it cutting and figure out why the spreader wasn’t working. I finally got it dialed in and now I can actually sit down at this beauty and do some real work!
I do not sew but was given this today. I do not know anything about sewing machines. I don't know what I plan to do with it but I would first like to learn about it before making a decision. I tried Google but it's giving me several different answers on the exact model. Any information is helpful
I loathe gathering and was looking at doing a lot of it in my latest project. Then I remembered that wacky looking foot that came in a box a slant shank feet from Ebay. Behold the Ruffler Foot! It works perfectly and you can set the depth of the ruffle as well as the ruffles per stitches as well and the stitches per inch on the machine. I gave the gears of the ruffler foot a drop of oil to get them moving smoothly and BOOM, I was making perfect ruffles on my Singer 301.
When trying to run the machine the thread is catching under the lever on the bobbin case. Additionally it is not always catching the thread. I have a video too if you DM me. Please help I’ve been trying to fix this machine up for months, thank you!!
I just inherited my great grandmother's model 66 Singer sewing machine, and these were the things I couldn't identify in the drawers. Any help?
He fixed the under thread punching up problem and installed it in a table.
Now why the f is it shaking and vibrating like that 😭😭😭
Also I’m not sure if this is considered vintage but it was made circa 1970s
Hi everyone, I am considering the purchase of a new vintage machine.
My current machines can do straight-stitch, zig-zag and decorative stitches that move forward only. I am now considering adding a machine that is able to also stitch backwards on decorative stitches, preferably with cams so I can design new ones.
Bonus, a machine where a monogramm attachment with cams or free arm exists.
I would be happy for tips on what model is very dependable, best fully metal or with replaceable plastic parts.
If possible, latest from the 70s.
An elderly gentleman that lived in one of my rentals for many years has retired and moved into a senior complex and while downsizing gavn me this vintage sewing machine. Does anyone know what kind of sewing machine this is and when it was made?
Recently acquired a Singer Feather Weight and tonight when my modern Brother went down with tension issues I pulled it out and continued piecing the quilt top I’m working on.
We are trying to get this screw out of this 1910-1920 Singer machine. We have tried every screwdriver. An impact wrench. Used oil. A blow dryer. A rubber band and tape on the head to get a grip. Nothing, it won’t budge.
Any suggestions?
TIA
Found it on marketplace and thought ‘it looks sturdy, it can probably handle leather’ and now this heavy thing is sitting in my basement waiting for a little work over.
So my question is, what is it, and are there any quirks that I should know about? And can I sew leather with it?
Thanks!
It’s my second vintage Singer and I’m obsessed. I got a Featherweight in April.
So I currently have an issue with my tension on my machine. It keeps pulling up the bottom thread. No bunching, skipping, breaking thread. Just the machine pulling the bottom thread up a little bit. It doesn’t do it and I get a “perfect” stitch when the tension is at 0. Test have only been 2 denim layers. I’ve adjusted the bobbin case tension and it’s lose and it didn’t change anything. The top thread is at 0 and I’d like to readjust it so that it gives me the “perfect stitch” at tension 4-5.
Background of the machine:
Previous owners: Unknown
Maintenance frequency: unknown
It needs oil it shows signs of sitting in a garage collecting dust, gonna oil it soon.
Hi everyone,
I found this old Zenith sewing machine with its original wooden cabinet. I couldn't find the serial number anywhere and I'm trying to identify its exact model and production year.
Is it a rare model? Does it have any collector value?
I have attached several photos from different angles. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
So, for context, I've been wanting to get into sewing for about a year now, and I bought a Husqvarna Classica 105 secondhand for maybe $5 during last summer. It has all the accessories and it's in pretty decent shape Now that summer has come again and school is out, I'm wanting to fire it up and maybe hem some pants or something. However, there's a slight issue. The original bobbin case broke, and while we did buy a replacement, it's not exactly the same as the original bobbin case and therefore doesn't fit as well/ I don't even know if it'll work with this machine / I don't know how to thread the bobbin. (For reference the replacement we bought is the 4114962-01 and the one that originally came with the machine is4 120972-02.) While I could go and buy the 4120972-02 for a hundred dollars, that's a bit of a steep price for such a small item. Does anyone know if the 4114962-01 even works with the Husqvarna Classica 105 and if so, how exactly you thread the bobbin for this exact machine. Any other general help would also be MUCH MUCH appreciated.
EDIT: Mine is also the 300 year anniversary edition if that makes any difference. If anyone wants me to post photos, let me know.
I’m in Maryland USA. I bought this sewing machine from a lady in Hawaii, who said it belonged to her grandmother. The sewing machine itself is gorgeous. It also included all these attachments. The green book is dated 1924. The white book is dated 1917 however, the picture on the front seems to show dresses more in the style of the 20s. Is it possible that this machine is that old? Is there another place I should look for a marking? If it is that old, I’m very excited. And does anyone have any other tidbits or history? I’d love to hear it.
It's a Universal but the model name has scratched off. I can find loads of similar ones online, but can't find any info even with ghe serial number.
Can anyone please shine a light on this?
Much much appreciated.
