Just missed enhanced maternity pay

My London firm’s enhanced maternity pay policy requires 12 months’ continuous employment as at the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth. I miss that threshold by 12 days.

Has anyone been in a similar situation, or works in HR at a large firm and knows how this tends to be handled in practice? Do firms typically apply any discretion for cases this close to the threshold?

Would be so grateful for any experience or insight. Thank you!
