I plan to be honest with my children in age-appropriate ways, with help from my therapist, about the reason for our divorce. They are too young for it now, at 2.5 years and nine months, obviously. Right now it’s just very matter of fact, “mommy and daddy don’t live together. That’s just the way our family does it.” And I would never plan on giving all of the disgusting details. That said, what is the appropriate way to do it?

Can anyone share their story of how they told their children and what age they started getting into specifics about addiction? Do you wish you had done it differently?
