WHO ASKED ? YOU ASKED INSTRUMENTAL LIVE !
I was lucky enough to hear the album early. I really expected a different mix, something closer to what we got on the live extracted versions to be honest, those are the ones I prefer, and I wish they'd landed on the platforms as they were. That said, I still enjoy the project. As I mentioned in my post at release, the vocals sit a little too far forward for my taste. But overall, it's cool.
Why did it disappear?
They posted all the live versions of the album (with only the instrumentals) on their YouTube page. I even saved it to YouTube Music, but I went to listen to it again and it's gone.
I Wasn't Ready for This DOMi & JD Beck Album
First impressions, straight after my first listen to the new DOMi & JD Beck project on YouTube Music. Let me say it upfront: this is not a hate post. I already love this project. I'm not disappointed, I just wasn't expecting this.
First surprise: there are vocals on the album they, they sang on all the tracks. With them, there are already so many elements going on that it can be hard to keep up, so adding voices on top of that really changes things. And to be clear, I love their voices but even without them, the album would have been incredible.
I'd been waiting impatiently for 05. GROWiNG OLDER, the one they teased on Instagram. And there, big surprise: even the mix has been redone. The drums don't sound the same anymore, neither does the glockenspiel, and some other instruments have changed too. But that's just how mixing goes it comes with.
Overall its an 9/10 amazing album, the process they explained in their last interview amazed me.
Anyway, enjoy the listen. and for everyone who has already listened to it, what do you think about "WHO ASKED ?"
