My Journey So Far.

Been in Dharamshala for 4 days now. I'm staying in Dharamkot, and my place has a sweet view and a balcony. There are tons of cafes and grocery stores nearby too. I even rented a scooty for 700 Rs here in Dharamkot. (I know it's probably 600 Rs in McLeod, but whatever!)

So far, we've hit up Bhagsu Temple, the Waterfall, and Shiva Cafe. Dal Lake was a bit of a letdown, and Naddi Sunset Point had no view thanks to all the clouds and fog. We also checked out St. John's Church and Gallu Devi Temple, plus that awesome Waterfall Trek! That was definitely the best part so far.

Thinking of heading to Bir or Palampur tomorrow morning. Any recommendations? Time isn't an issue at all.

Need a Stay for a week

Me and my friend have arrived at dharamshala this morning. We're currently staying at Chhitwadi. We're looking for a long stay in either -

Dharamkot

Naddi or

Bhagsu

Please suggest some homestays or properties. Would be nice if you've stayed there or know about the experience. Thanks

Best Place for my Workation.

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to figure out the best spot to crash – Naddi, Bhagsu, or Dharamkot? I'll be out and about during the day, then I've got a four-hour work shift at night, so I really need some solid advice.

I'm planning on staying for a whole month. So, if any of you have been to these places, please throw your suggestions my way. Also, should I try staying a week or so in each village, or is that just too much of a hassle?

I'm looking for my own private room, amazing balcony views, and not somewhere so isolated that I feel completely stranded, especially since I'm not exactly a master chef.

Any recommendations for homestays or other places to stay would be super helpful. My budget is roughly 8-12k, maybe a bit more if the place is truly spectacular.

Help Needed, Planning a month long vacation.

Planning a 1-Month Slow Travel Trip Around Dharamshala – Looking for Recommendations & Experiences

Hi everyone,

My girlfriend and I are planning to spend about one month in and around Dharamshala, and we're looking for advice from people who have explored the region extensively.

Our goal is not to rent a single room in Dharamshala and stay there for the entire month. Instead, we want to experience the area through slow travel—staying in different villages, mountain towns, and offbeat locations for 2–4 days at a time before moving on to the next place.

We're interested in:

- Beautiful villages with mountain views

- Peaceful and less touristy locations

- Local culture and authentic Himachali experiences

- Cafés with good vibes and reliable internet (I'll be working remotely)

-Nature, hiking trails, waterfalls, forests, and scenic walks

-Places where it's actually worth spending a few days rather than just doing a day trip

Some places already on our radar are:

McLeod Ganj

Dharamkot

Naddi

Bir

Palampur

But I'm sure there are many hidden gems that don't usually show up on standard travel itineraries.

I'd love suggestions on:

  1. Which places around Dharamshala are worth staying in for 2–4 days?

2)What route would you follow if you had a full month?

3)Any underrated villages or locations that most tourists miss?

4)Areas with good internet and work-friendly cafés?

5)Places that have a great balance of nature, peacefulness, and accessibility?

6)Any mistakes or lessons learned from your own slow-travel experience in Himachal?

If you've done something similar—moving between villages and staying in different places instead of being based in one location—I would really appreciate hearing about your itinerary and experience.

Thanks in advance! And yes, used chatgpt.
