Has anyone ever met a complete stranger on the Triund Trek who ended up becoming someone important in your life?

I'm curious if anyone has a story like this. You start the trek with strangers, have a few conversations along the way, maybe share a sunset or tea at the top, and somehow that random person becomes a close friend, travel buddy, or even someone you still talk to today.

If you've had an experience like that on Triund, I'd love to hear your story.

Live music / great places to hang out at Dharamkot & McLeod

Which are the best cafes to listen to live bands and to enjoy the backpacker vibe at Dharamkot / McLeod?

Want to know the good weekend scenes. I believe the hills are where everyone escapes to from costal hubs like Goa / Varkala.

So what’s happening here? Coming here to relax this weekend
Thanks!

Is it sane for me wanting to visit in August?

With the monsoons and landslides, is it safe for tourists to visit in Aug week 1-3? Planning to go on a solo trip.

Me and my friends want to come in dharmshala and mcleodganj around 27-30 July. How will the rains be around that time? I am quite skeptical because of the landslides and floods

Anyone planning to trek Triund (or any nearby trail) tomorrow, July 1?

I'm a solo traveler currently in dharamshala and planning to do the Triund trek tomorrow (July 1). If anyone else is going, or planning another nearby trek, I'd be happy to join.

I'm not looking for a guided group, just some fellow hikers to share the trail with. Let me know if you're interested!

Places to visit and eat with parents

Visiting dharamshala this week with parents. Parents are keen on temples and pilgrimage spots. Already have Brajeshwari Devi (Kangra) on the list. Would love suggestions around Dharamshala / McLeod Ganj / Palampur area.

Also looking for some good suggestions for pure veg places to eat.

Please suggest some homestays or properties. Would be nice if you've stayed there or know about the experience. Thanks

Buying house in Dharamsala as a non-Himachali. Looking for genuine estate agents (bonus points for heritage homes!)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently planning for my retirement and looking to buy a place in Dharamsala. I’m based in Mumbai right now, and I'm trying to relocate to the hills for the long term. I’ve always had a massive soft spot for heritage architecture, so finding an old heritage home or a property with that classic vibe is at the very top of my wishlist.

I’ve been browsing online and visited last year, but I’m completely exhausted by fake/ghost listings.

What I’m looking for:

  • Trustworthy Agents: Recommendations for genuine estate agents or boutique property companies in Dharamsala (Kotwali, Yol Cantt, McLeodGanj, or nearby areas like Sidhpur/Rakkar) that actually have real, verified listings.
  • Heritage Homes: Has anyone successfully bought a heritage home here as a non-Himachali? I know about the HP Tenancy and Land Reforms Act restrictions regarding agricultural land, but I'm hoping there are legal avenues, leasehold options, or specific notified area rules for buying heritage properties.

Any leads, personal experiences, or general advice would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
