job wants me to do ANOTHER 2 weeks?

resigned from a tutoring job i’ve had for a couple of years because of the terrible hours (no consistent schedule, teaching students in China so i have to work at 5:30am, 11pm etc).

in my resignation letter i said i’d be happy to help train a new teacher etc to make the transition smoother, and informed them of my last day (2 weeks thence)

boss waited until now, right before my last day, to ask me to work another 2 weeks. i’m a grad student in an MA program writing my thesis this year and the semester just started, i was so glad i quit this job and was counting down the days till i could be done. 2 more weeks sounds exhausting :(

i want to part amicably i guess because what if i need to use them as a reference?? but also this just seems so unprofessional and unfair of them.

do i have to agree to 2 more weeks in order to leave them with a decent impression of me? or does it not matter if i make her mad at this point?

i have another job at a library, and i’m a TA, so she isn’t my only possible reference, but still, i’m young and my last job was a preschool that changed hands a couple years back, and the director retired…
