Is it worth it?

I'm a sophomore who'll be taking Honors Precalc this year and Calc AB/BC junior year depending on how I do in Precalc. Should I self-study AP Precalc?

Rising Sophomore - EC help!

I'm a rising sophomore in a pretty competitive school and I'm trying to get into JHU/Georgia Tech for BME. Can you guys lmk what I need to improve to achieve this?

GPA: 3.9 UW, 4.6/5.0 W

Classes (Freshman Year) : AP Bio + 6 Honors classes

Sophomore year classes: AP Chem, APUSH, AP CSA + 4 Honors classes

EC's (listed in no particular order and low-ish detail)

  1. Independent research project on a diagnostic to detect gene mutation and cellular aging in a rare disease; mentorship from a prof at an Ivy

  2. Marching band + jazz band (lead saxophone and soloist); band placed highly at state and national-level competitions; outside of this, I also perform at recitals and performed (lead alto sax+soloist) in a tri-state ensemble and gained recognition at a regional level

  3. DECA - Qualified for states freshman year; 2nd place at Districts

  4. Hosted a sciecne competition at another school, 200+ participants (hoping to expand state-wide this year)

  5. Volunteering at a religious organization - packing food to donate to homeless shelter + helping teach younger kids

  6. Tutoring math, science, and english to ~75 kids over the last year (120+ hrs)

  7. National History Day: 2x nationals qualifier (1st place at states 2x)

btw - i'm also competing in a couple other comps this year but still have to add to my awards section

APUSH Study Tips

I've heard APUSH is really bad (taught poorly in my school) and only like 5 kids in the class above me got a 5 last year. It's a sophomore class in my school. I have been taking notes from the Heimler's videos (one page of Cornell notes per video). What else do you recommend?
