X-Men Vs. Street Fighter 97

X-Men Vs. Street Fighter 97

X-Men: The Animated Series was brought back last year in the form of X-Men '97... and it defied all initial fears regarding certain changes to prove itself as a worthy revival. Unfortunately, the second season won't arrive until 2026... but Marvel & Capcom both have to give us something to tie us over in the meanwhile... so I'm suggesting a revival of the classic fighting game X-Men Vs. Street Fighter. For X-Men Vs. Street Fighter 97, I'm pitching 16 characters available at the start... and more being added in seasons, in a manner akin to Killer Instinct 2013. The gameplay will combine the gameplay of Killer Instinct 2013 with 2-D animation akin to Skullgirls & classic Marvel Vs. Capcom gameplay.

How I would've adapted Jack From Jupiter from The Boys if he was properly adapted into the TV Series. (Part 3)

Here it is... the final part of my Jack From Jupiter post, not only does this cover the series finale, it gives a few fixes to said finale.

Series Finale - Blood And Bone

In my headcanon re-take, the episode starts with Jack From Jupiter having visions of Homelander going on a warfare against humanity in order to cull those he deems unbelievers, with his voice saying this...

Homelander: No matter what I do... some of you people will never accept me into your hearts... never love me... never believe in me... and to such heretics... I offer oblivion... and those who seek to destroy me... you will die the most horrible of deaths, as befits your wickedness. My reign will last forever & when this world is cold... and dead... I shall remain... eternal... God Of The Ashes.

After this vision, we cut to Frenchie's funeral. Later on, Jack joins The Boys in infiltrating the White House through a secret entrance in some underground tunnels... and while Jack tries his best to destroy as many surveillance equipment in the entrance as discreetly as possible with his psychic powers, even HE fails to anticipate a trap laid for the group... a trap room meant to disorient intruders (especially enemy Supes) with sonic vibrations before shooting them dead... a trap that manages to keep Jack From Jupiter's Carpo Barrier from activating... a trap that the group is only able to escape from with their lives thanks to Ashley Barrett managing to find them (after being guided by her second face on the back of her head), & free them, seeing them as the only hope of stopping Homelander before he goes too far. Once the group gets into the White House, Starlight opts to take care of The Deep while the rest of the group is left to deal with Oh Father, who takes time to explain himself to Jack when he confronts him over his past relationship with Starlight... that's when the shocking truth about Oh Father is revealed...

Once upon a time, Aaron was once a genuine devout man of the cloth, who started preaching when he was only nine years old in a tent in the middle of nowhere. But over the years, he constantly encountered people in turmoil and hardship pleading with him to pray for them, which he did. But the prayers kept going unanswered, until he stopped believing... things only got worse for Aaron when he discovered that he was an illegitimate child of Jack Daily, also known as Jack From Jupiter... one of several from his previous flings who happened to be an African American... which along with the fact that Jack was born a white man before becoming a metahuman resembling an alien, means that he is half-black (much like the multiracial actor portraying Oh Father, Daveed Diggs).

In my headcanon, Oh Father is primarily a Corrupted Character Copy of Luke Cage, a Marvel hero whose entire persona & name are rooted in Scripture... with Black Bolt's sonic scream power in addition to the superhuman strength & durability of Luke Cage as well as the same telepathic powers as Martian Manhunter.

The "Death" of the Old Self - In contrast to Carl Lucas being trapped in a dying state and subjected to a brutal experiment in a tank, reflecting the shedding of a sinful, old life, Aaron's "Death" of the Old Self" was of a passionate, God-fearing preacher who sought to end suffering & spread the Gospel before years of his prayers being ignored gradually eroded his faith with the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back" being the discovery of his parentage related to Jack From Jupiter, a known atheist.

Father Vs. Son

The dynamic between Oh Father & Jack From Jupiter is recontextualized as being an estrangement similar to Luke Cage & his father Reverend James Lucas in the MCU... with the kind of dark twist you'd expect from The Boys...

The Mission: Luke Cage's mission mirrors Luke 4:18-19: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor... to set the oppressed free." This choice frames his superheroism not just as vigilante justice, but as a spiritual calling to protect the marginalized. For Oh Father, he lost his faith in god & his "Holy Mission" basically boils down to revenge against Jack, whom he blames for his misfortune... and whom better to help him than the Homelander, whom Oh Father wants to present as the new god of the world, simply cause for all his flaws, Homelander is actually present & capable of making real changes to the world.

As Aaron further explains, he did things... specifically he founded the Capes for Christ movement under Vought to mold young children into his faith, occasionally dressing as Jack to mock him... before he was usurped by Ezekiel (who framed him for molesting children in his care) & rendered temporarily blind... but from this blinding came the awakening of his sonic scream (inherited from his mother) & telepathy that can match his father Jack From Jupiter. From there, Oh Father worked to build himself back from the ground up while taking full advantage of unexpected variables messing up Jack's strategies with the goal of taking down Jack before he can fulfill his secret plan that he's been working on from behind the scenes since Homelander's public debut... The Anti-Odessa Contingency, meant to counteract & destroy Homelander should he go too far off the deep end. All of this because Oh Father hated the fact that he was the son of an alien-looking supe atheist.

With that, Jack & Oh Father clash with their telepathy, with Of Father having the upper hand until Hughie shoots a nearby ANSUL IGS-300 to create a smokescreen so Hughie can pose as Butcher to divert Oh Father's attention. Hughie, M.M., & Jack quickly get cornered by Oh Father, who quotes Judge Claude Frollo.

Oh Father: And he shall smite the wicked & plunge them... INTO THE FIERY PIT!!!

Yelling that last part out loud with his sonic scream, Aaron manages to bypass Jack's Carpo Barrier & severely wound him while he's trying to protect Hughie. Jack begins to regenerate to which Aaron responds...

Oh Father: Oh... ho! V1 must've given you regenerative powers to compliment your Soldier Boy-level immortality... Let's see you regenerate from this!... Father!

As Oh Father begins to charge a sonic scream to finish off Jack & Hughie, M.M. manages to sneak up behind & plug up his mouth with a "little gift" from Annie... A ball gag custom made from turbine-grade titanium, the straps are re-inforced ballistic kevlar, no matter how much Of Father is "defiled" the ball gag won't explode from Oh Father's sonic scream. Unfortunately for Oh Father, using his sonic scream offensively with this ball gag plugging up his mouth is NOT a good idea... and the normally immune to his own power supe goes the way of Black Bolt in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness... a sonic scream redirected into his skull that causes his head to explode.

Once Jack is fully regenerated, he immediately joins the final battle against Homelander alongside Ryan, which pretty much plays the same as in the official finale... only with more bloodshed, especially from Ryan to Homelander, especially the finale when Kimiko manages to blast everyone else with Soldier Boy's power... Jack From Jupiter attacking Homelander with his psychic powers manages to prevent Homelander from quickly bursting out of the room like he did in the first attempt to de-power him... and he ends up losing his powers, Butcher loses his Humanoid Abomination status, Ryan isn't clarified as having lost his powers (even I'm not sure if he could easily be de-powered due to being a natural-born supe rather than being infused with Compund V)... Homelander is effectively rendered powerless... reduced to a mere mortal pleading for his life like the pathetic coward he is before Butcher impales him in the head with a crowbar, pops his skull cap open, grabs his brain, & crushes it with his bare hands.

Butcher: Diabolical

Even though he has managed to give Vought a black eye by toppling Homelander, the death of his dog Terror & Ryan rejecting him has left him with nothing left but to commit to releasing the Godolkin virus in order to wipe out Vought & its supes... and knowing this, Jack guides Hughie in the right direction to help him get to Vought Tower to stop Butcher in his tracks.

Despite Homelander's death, the war is far from over... as long as Vought still stands as corrupt as ever, they're gonna keep making fraudulent heroes... and unless something is done about it, it's only a matter of time before a supe becomes the next Soldier Boy, the next Homelander... something Jack From Jupiter knows all too well... after a few months of reflecting his horrible experience with Oh Father & how a once Good Shepherd went so far astray because of having been born from himself, Jack decides to convert to Christianity, becoming the new head of Capes for Christ & starting his reign by working to clean up the mess Homelander & Vought left behind while playing a role in bringing about a new generation of superheroes... real superheroes.

How I would've adapted Jack From Jupiter from The Boys if he was properly adapted into the TV Series. (Part 2)

Continuing from the first part. This second part of my Jack From Jupiter post covers Season 4 of The Boys, both seasons of Gen V, & Season 5 all the way up to the last episode before the finale.

Gen V Season 1

Jack From Jupiter isn't involved much in the first season of Gen V, but it is revealed that he created the prescription drugs that would be used to suppress HIS ability to hear other peoples' thoughts... and that of other Supes with the same telepathic ability like Cate Dunlap.

Season 4

Unlike the prior three seasons, Jack From Jupiter doesn't have much of a role until the final three episodes... but Jack proves instrumental in Billy Butcher figuring out that he's hallucinating Kessler & Becca thanks to the brain tumors resulting from his abuse of Temp V, exposing the shapeshifter that poses as Starlight (portrayed as one of several offspring Jack has had in some nightstands that he's had in his spare time), & helping the real Starlight regain her powers (after she spent the better part of Season 4 dealing with her own inner demons that caused her doubt & a subsequent reduction in her powers).

Gen V Season 2

The second season sees Jack From Jupiter playing a major role in the fight against Cipher... then against the person responsible for Cipher's threat... Thomas Godolkin... whom Jack has been playing a cosmic game of chess against for years... one that started in the 60s when Jack became a scientist & helped Godolkin found Godolkin University... but Godolkin refused to acknowledge Jack at all, seeing him as nothing more than in inferior Supe while he himself was ironically a human that was a Supe Supremacist... ironically, Godolkin's attempt at torturing Jack until he started seeing things HIS way instead made Jack's powers stronger, resulting in a lab accident that left Godolkin charred all over his body, which in Jack's mind should've left him a powerless vegetable... but as Jack realized too late, Godolkin shot himself up not with adrenaline (as Jack initially assumed during their fight) but with V-One. While the V-One couldn't immediately heal Godolkin's burns, it gave him incredible psychic powers that could match Jacks'. Also, it is revealed that a secondary power of Jack From Jupiter that he had trained himself in is the ability to resist attempts to read his mind both from Godolkin... and from other super smart Supes like Sister Sage, who is revealed to have become what she is now because of Godolkin. As already made known in Season 4 of the main series, Jessica Bradley lost her grandmother to a group of racist doctors who ignored her when she came to them with a cure for cancer. The experience drove her into a deep-seated hatred of mankind. As a result, she became a Misanthrope Supreme. In my little rewrite of this origin story... it is revealed that these racist doctors were on Godolkin's payroll, cruelly murdering parents, grandparents, & legal guardians of children who had developed superpowers through Compound V through medical malpractice as a means of engineering "tragic origin stories" for Godolkin to exploit in order to create Supes in his image, NOT for Vought's sake, but primarily for himself & his G-Men. Jessica was one such victim... for while some of the doctors refused to ignore a potential cure for cancer that could save millions, they unfortunately underestimated Godolkin's power as he used his psychic powers to force the death of Jessica's grandmother as punishment for her refusal to just let her die by order of the racist doctors... with most of the doctors who dared to try & stand up to their superiors on Jessica's behalf being slaughtered one by one... but the one doctor who refused to obey his superiors' orders for medical malpractice more than one else, Doug Brightbill, was punished for leading the attempted revolt against the racist doctors with a fate worse than death, basically being made into Godolkin's meat puppet for decades... something that Jack From Jupiter had suspected from the start & unfortunately learns too late to stop Marie Moreau from healing Godolkin... mainly because Sister Sage herself had played Jack's own game against her on Godolkin's behalf... which makes it all the more horrifying for Sage when she learns the hard way that Godolkin not only used her to get his body back in working condition so he can get his revenge on Jack, but had been responsible for Sage losing her grandmother through his proxies... and is now proving to be genocidal beyond her predictions in addition to being on the cusp of controlling Homelander... forcing Sage to team up with Jack to stop Godolkin.

Season 5

One year after Homelander consolidated his power, Jack From Jupiter is revealed to have been helping Starlight & A-Train in secret to the best of his ability, helping Starlight (as Annie January) infiltrate a Vought shareholders meeting in order to leak the Flight 37 video, damaging trust in Homelander & helping A-Train to stay one step ahead of Vought, relocating his family repeatedly. After A-Train's death at Homelander's hands, Jack becomes disturbed by Homelander having found & released Soldier Boy from cryostasis (his final fate at the end of Season 3)... and later when Soldier Boy survives the Godolkin Virus... because V1, a Compound V variant in Soldier Boy's blood, gives him immortality. Fearing how much of a threat Homelander could become if he were to become immortal as well, Jack covertly aids The Boys in trying to find a sample of V1 before Homelander does. Jack also gets into conflict with Oh Father, admitting that he's an atheist, but draws the line at using Christianity as an excuse to justify his greed, exorbitant spending habits, conspiracy theory spouting, transphobia, & just being a hypocritical grifter & implied molester. Also, when The Deep becomes isolated & is threatened with death by marine animals aware of his role in the pipeline disaster (effectively barring him from the ocean), resulting in him chickening out when he had the chance to save a man from drowning in front of several witnesses, Jack (with his info gathering & telepathy) publicly explains Deep's situation as best as he can on Social Media while deliberately withholding the fact that it was Black Noir II who actually caused the pipeline disaster ecocide (as part of a Cycle of Revenge that the two wound up in), because Jack never liked the Deep in the first place (and for good reason), Jack From Jupiter effectively ruined Deep's public reputation after he had spent five seasons not learning his lesson because there was nothing in it for him and sinking into further depths of narcissism. After Frenchie dies in Kimiko's arms after having sacrificed himself to keep Homelander from stopping Butcher's final plan to stop Homelander: Infuse Kimiko with enough radiation from enriched uranium that she will gain the atomic blast power that Soldier Boy developed, Jack is furious, deciding that Homelander, being too far gone, needs to be put down... whatever the cost.

How I would've adapted Jack From Jupiter from The Boys if he was properly adapted into the TV Series. (Part 1)

In The Comics, Jack From Jupiter is a Corrupted Character Copy of Martian Manhunter... Like most of the Seven, he really only cares about the profits from his merchandising contracts and enjoying the perks of being able to do whatever (and whoever) he wants with no repercussions... While appearing as an alien, he's actually a Compound-V mutated superhuman. He's generally pushed around by his own team, and is generally just seen as an obnoxious, weird-looking Supe with some pretty lackluster powers... and in the TV Show, he's briefly mentioned as a footnote, replaced with Translucent... But I believe Jack From Jupiter could have worked if the showrunners had changed things around like they did with Black Noir & Soldier Boy, among others... In my headcanon AU, Jack is portrayed by Nicholas Hoult & wears a supersuit echoing his comics appearance... while keeping him bald... and while he still has the ability to become completely invulnerable when he says his magic word... "Carpo"... he also has the abilities of shapeshifting & telepathy like Martian Manhunter. Also, in a similar vein to Martian Manhunter in the comics, Jack From Jupiter compiled data on every Supe created by Vought with the intent of using that data to defend himself from them if they proved hostile to him.

Jack From Jupiter / Jack Daily

Species: Human (Mutated by Compound-V)

Citizenship: American

Affiliation(s): The Seven

Portrayed By: Nicholas Hoult

Season 1

Jack From Jupiter isn't seen until the fourth episode, but he is a Founding Member of The Seven who is said to have left due to an emergency on the Planet Jupiter that needed attending to... in reality, he isn't an alien from Jupiter as Vought claims & he is actually hiding in the deepest pits of Vought Tower compiling data for Vought for their future exploits. In the wake of the death of his less than honorable former pupil Translucent, Jack From Jupiter returns to The Seven, claiming to the public that Translucent is on a mission South America to investigate MS-13... in reality, his telepathy had tipped him off to Translucent's death at the hands of The Boys... and also to new member Starlight's far from wholesome experiences with both Translucent & The Deep. Jack is the main intelligence officer of The Seven, hiding in the shadows alongside Black Noir (the silent assassin), trying his best to think several steps of even Homelander... but even he is appalled when he learns that Homelander had managed to go behind Vought's back without even himself realizing & secretly "borrowed" some Compound V & had A-Train run it all over the globe to create Supe-Terrorists with the intent on having villains all over the world that only Vought's heroes can fight.

Season 2

In the Season Two premiere however, Jack finds a way to reconcile Homelander's action with the death of Translucent... Having fought (and killed) a cartel Supe terrorist called "El Diablo", he decided to frame his cartel as the ones behind Translucent's death before properly arranging his funeral. Jack also is shown to have bad blood with Stormfront, saying that she reminds him of another Super called Liberty, who committed a racially charged murder in the 1970s... foreshadowing that Stormfront & Liberty are one & the same along with her Nazi origins, which Jack From Jupiter is all too familiar with... That would be explained in the third season.

Season 3

One year after the Stormfront scandal, Jack enjoys how it has affected Homelander... and so does Queen Maeve. Jack tries to make sure that the both of them are alone without Homelander able to listen in on them so he can figure out the source of Maeve's scorn against Homelander... and he finds his way to Billy Butcher (just narrowly avoiding killing his dog Terror by accident). Learning that Maeve has become the mole for The Boys as well as how Homelander was responsible for the Flight 37 disaster, having forced Maeve to go along with abandoning the citizens on the plane to die, Jack is outraged... at Homelander, feeling that he's starting to really become an all-powerful maniac. Needing a plan to deal with him, Jack has Butcher investigate Payback, a disbanded superhero team whose leader, Soldier Boy, mysteriously died - in hopes of finding a weapon capable of killing Homelander. According to the official records, Payback was deployed to assist the CIA against communists in Nicaragua during the Cold War, but were ambushed during an attack by Russian and Nicaraguan soldiers that left Black Noir mutilated and Soldier Boy missing in action, supposedly killed by a Russian superweapon... the truth turns out to be more complicated than that... The Boys' whole reason for coming to Russia was finding the Soviet weapon that allegedly killed Soldier Boy back in Nicaragua... but to their utter horror, they ultimately don't find any proof that such a weapon ever truly existed... Instead, The Boys find Soldier Boy himself, alive, and now with the ability to De-power supes with his chest blast. Soon enough, we learn of Jack From Jupiter's backstory in this minor rewrite of the TV Series incorporating him.

Jack Daily was once an ordinary human police officer who in 1944, was unwillingly drafted into World War II, where he would end up among the numerous test subjects exposed to Frederick Vought's field tested Compound V, specifically, V-One... the only one among his platoon unit to survive testing & develop superpowers. Jack, along with the rest of Payback, hated Soldier Boy, as he sabotaged any efforts by them to advance their careers and would frequently physically abuse them. Eventually, when Stan Edgar rose to power as CEO of Vought & decided to "dishonorably discharge" Soldier Boy from his position as Vought's top hero, most of Payback (including Jack) was hesitant in following through with Edgar's plan... not out of any sentimental bond with Soldier Boy, but because of the civillian fatalities that could result from Stan's plan. Fortunately, Jack in his first display of his intelligence both in strategy & in using his powers, was able to plan things carefully, using the Soviet surprise attack made possible by Swatto's carelessness as an opportunity to keep Soldier Boy from killing civilians until it was time to make his move. By the time Soldier Boy realized that Jack was going against his wishes by protecting civillians from being killed, Jack & the rest of Payback were all set to launch a brutal anbush against their hated leader. Although Soldier Boy put up a good fight, the team were successful in knocking him out by using Novichok gas, & then handed him over to the Russians. Jack would then cover up Soldier Boy's "disappearance" by claiming that Soldier Boy had died a hero sacrificing himself to stop a nuclear meltdown in Ohio. Also, when Little Nina tries to force Frenchie to choose to let either Kimiko or Cherie die, or else she'll kill all three of them... Jack From Jupiter (who had been posing as one of her goons using his Supe Shapeshifting ability) ambushes her, helping the three escape while he deals with Nina because he needs ALL of The Boys (including Kimiko & Frenchie) to deal with Soldier Boy... in addition to helping Black Noir cut out his tracking chip so Homelander can't find him & force him into interacting with Soldier Boy. Once Homelander finds out about Jack trying to keep himself & Noir away from Soldier Boy & withholding information about him that Homelander could've deemed as useful (including that he, Homelander, was Soldier Boy's son via cloning), he fights with the both of them, managing to throw Jack out the window in a manner akin to Mace Windu's death in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith... though unlike Windu, Jack was able to survive thank to shouting out "Carpo" to activate his invulnerability beforehand. Black Noir isn't so lucky, as Homelander impales Noir with his hand, resulting in Noir bleeding to death with guts hanging out.
