Where to find e-waste or old tech for a local restoration project?

I am a local electronics hobbyist currently working on a project to refurbish and repurpose older computers to keep them out of the landfill. I am looking for advice on where to source "retired" hardware or e-waste-destined tech in the Tacoma area that people are looking to clear out. If you know of any local businesses, community groups, or specific spots where people typically drop off older gear that might otherwise head to the transfer station, I would appreciate the lead. I am happy to handle the safe removal and physical destruction of any drives to ensure data security. Thanks for helping me keep this gear in use!

Hey Tacoma,

I’m a local hardware hobbyist looking for "end-of-life" tech for some repair projects and parts scavenging.

If you have old electronics taking up drawer space, I’ll come to you and pick them up for free. I specifically look for:

  • Computers: Desktops, laptops, and servers (working or dead).
  • Mobile: Old smartphones and tablets (cracked screens are fine).
  • Displays: Monitors and even those old bulky CRT TVs.
  • The "Junk Drawer": Power bricks, cables, and old routers.

Data Privacy: I know this is the #1 reason people keep old phones and PCs. I can pull hard drives/SD cards and hand them back to you, or physically destroy them on-site. For phones/tablets, I do a factory reset/wipe immediately or harvest them for physical parts only.

I’m i Old Town and can do porch pickups this weekend. Shoot me a DM to clear out some clutter
