Group of teenagers wanted in connection to an assault on an elderly woman near Edna Travis Elementary

Group of teenagers wanted in connection to an assault on an elderly woman. Incident occurred yesterday evening (8/15/26) at 8pm near Edna Travis Elementary. Main aggressor was referred to as "DJ" and was wearing a medical boot on his right foot at the time. If you have any information on anyone pictured, please contact me directly or contact the Tacoma Police department. Case number can be provided if needed.

The incident originally started asZZ my mom left our front yard to walk down the sidewalk. There was a group of teenagers across the street, and another group who had just turned the corner and started walking towards the first group. Each group had had squirt guns, but they were the kind that shoot small, gel bb's. As they neared my mother, they began shooting eachother while running around her. She was hit multiple times in the face and body from close range, resulting in visible red marks and later bruising. As they continued, and I yelled at them to stop shooting, a few of them became more agressive and approached me. As my mom tried to retreat through the gate, back into our yard, one main aggressor who was referred to as DJ continued advancing towards us and making threats. The video attached, picks up shortly after the initial incident where she was shot, and shows her retreating back through the gate. My main goal is to be in touch with "DJ's parents and take it from there depending on their response. Currently he is wanted on three charges. Two counts of assault and one count of harassment (per Tacoma PD)

Thank you all for taking the time

TATTOO REMOVAL

Are there any places y'all reccomend for tattoo removal? I have four that I regret getting, they're not big pieces thankfully. I don't think i want to get them covered up either. I'm okay with anywhere in Thurston County, Pierce, or King.

Medical MJ

Are there any providers in the area that do medical marijuana authorization form? Greater Tacoma area or even as far south as Centralia is fine. My PCM is at the VA so they cannot sign off on it.

I'm doing it to be able to grow. Not skip the taxes. I already meet the criteria and have all my records.

Green wellness is the only one that responds but they aren't open anywhere but lynwood currently.

Cost of veneers?

My partner’s teeth are falling out. Have any of you got veneers in or around Tacoma in recent years? How much did you pay - with and without insurance?

edit: excellent points about needing implants if there is bone to anchor them. I forgot this was suggested after email-submitted photos to a dentist in Mexico. Unfortunately, my partner racked up $25k of credit card debt just since December so I advised he use CareCredit to eat normally again soon.

Used car lot

Anyone know of any used car lots that buy cars from people? Looking to sell my car and want to see what a local lot would pay and if it wouldn’t be worth the hassle to sell privately. If it matters, it’s a 2015 BMW coming up on 150k miles that I’ve owned since it had 18k miles (I know this really doesn’t matter to 99% of people and probably BHPH lots but I’ve been meticulously on top of maintenance and have complete records of everything ever done to the car, for whatever that’s worth)

Apparently the main Tacoma sub considered this a solicitation for sale lmao. It’s not, I’m not trying to sell my car to anyone of Reddit.

New house, baseboard heating

I am in the process of buying a home in Tacoma, just got the inspection back and everything looks pretty good. My questions is this. I am Texan and moving from Texas where AC is a life or death thing. I understand that is not the case up there as the house does not have it. As far as heating, the house has baseboard heating. It's a 2 story with a basement around 2500 sq ft. I know nothing of baseboard heating, is that enough or should we look into other options? We have the budget to add or change what we need. I am just out of my element in this department. Any help would be appreciated.

Vegan / Vegetarian friendly Welcome Dinner locations?

My fiancé is vegan and I am vegetarian and we are looking for venues in the area that have options for a ~40 person reception next year and want to get ahead of searching - does anyone have any good recommendations of places that might accommodate these constraints (size / dietary restrictions)?

"Luxury" Dog Boarding

Hello Tacoma community!

We're looking for boarding for our two dogs in the next few months. I've visited a few "highly recommended" places and what I've found is that the front of the facility looks nice, pics of the dogs look great, etc. However, when we're given a tour of the back area of facility and the "suite" that my dogs would be staying in, they're loud, stressful, and tiny environments. My dogs are bigger and it seems like they'd be stuffed in a small cage for the duration of the stay which does not sit well with us at all.

Our dogs are reactive so we'd be looking for facilities that provide one-on-one care instead of daycare. Budget isn't a huge issue as we want them to be as comfortable as possible.

All we're really looking for is a place that they'd be comfortable in and have a decent amount of space to relax where it's not super loud and stressful. Obviously nothing will replace our house, but we don't want them stuffed in a tiny kennel for 22 hours a day.

Any recs for places with larger accomodations and good individual care would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Did we find an old or new beer bottle in the wall? General Brewing Co, Tumwater

We're in the middle of a bathroom renovation. While we were out of town a few weeks back, our contractor stripped our bathroom down to the studs. When we came home, we found a beer bottle sitting on one of the wall studs. It says 'BEER' and is from General Brewing Company, Tumwater. I assumed it was new, and someone had enjoyed a beer on the (current) job and left their trash behind. The label looks sorta modern to me? My partner thinks it was left in the wall by the old homeowner, who we've heard via a neighbor was an alcoholic and did a lot of DIY projects on the house. The label has a surgeon general's warning (not pictured) which it sounds like started showing up on beer bottles around 1989. So - what say you? Googling makes me think my partner is correct. Was this generic beer around in the 1990s?

Does anyone know where the Chicken Supply food truck went?

I just saw that the Chicken Supply food truck isn't at Beer Star anymore. Does anyone know where it went? My partner can't have gluten so we liked having a GF option for fried chicken

$1400 for brake replacement..

Hey everyone I just need some advice. I recently took my car in for a brake inspection and was quoted $1400 for the job to be done. I drive a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek for reference. My brakes are definitely in crucial need of a replacement, but $1400 seems really high. As far as I’m aware there is no damage to my rotors but I was told no matter what they have to be replaced nowadays which is new to me. If y’all have any suggestions on where to go or any insight on why it may be so high if that seems reasonable to you, I’m all ears. TIA

Anyone gotten LASIK recently? Wondering how much you paid (I don’t have eye insurance) and whether you’d recommend your provider? Thanks!

In search of outdoorsy friends

Have lived in Tacoma 6 years, and I'm way overdue in making this post. I'm originally from the Midwest and went full-steam into the outdoor hobbies after moving to NE Tacoma in 2020. Hiking, backpacking, car camping, paddle boarding, and skiing have become my true passions.

Like many, I've had trouble meeting friends living up here. It's honestly my fault, I'm a pretty social person. After COVID I prioritized outdoor activities with my wife and solo more than making time for meetups or other things. I've become very experienced & familiar with our state, the major hiking areas, maintaining fitness, and preparedness for Type 2/3 fun.

I've done pretty much every day hike in the I-90 corridor and Mt. Rainier and have backpacked in MRNP, North & Central Cascades, Olympic coast, Mt. Adams, Oregon, and Wyoming. In the Winter I usually have an unlimited pass to Summit at Snoqualmie, but have also ski'd at Crystal and other resorts in the world. For camping, I prefer dispersed car camping on our forest roads and know a few great spots, but I'm open to established campsites.

I'm 32 M and interested in meeting outdoorsy people of similar age/experience in Tacoma. Totally fine to meet ahead of time and make sure there's a fit, or just jump into an activity. Down for any of the activities mentioned above and have a plethora of hike recommendations if you want to learn more about what's out there. I work remote and am fairly available.

Ideally, you are someone who loves getting outside every chance they can and is down for spontaneous (or planned) weekend adventures. Maybe you're in the same boat as me, or your outdoor crew needs another person. You don't take things too seriously but are comfortable with big & small adventures, and have outdoor goals you need to check off. You want to avoid the crowds but aren't too annoyed by people. Hopefully you love a cold beer at the mountain top, alpine lake, or at a brewery afterwards. Experience doesn't matter as much, just good vibes, not uber-competitive, and an openness to hang out in other settings if we're a good fit.

My wife also works for Exped, a quality outdoor gear brand and can get huge discounts on backpacks, tents, sleep systems, etc. Yes, I am trying to buy your friendship XD

Reply or send me a PM with a little bit about you if you're interested!

Best Places to see the Perseid Meteor Shower Aug 12-13?

Hi all! I want to take my family the watch the Perseid Meteor shower late tomorrow night Aug 12th and early morning August 13th. My issue is I have no idea where to go. My plan would be to drive somewhere, park, get out some pop up chairs, watch and then head home afterwards. Whenever I try to look up places I'm only finding recommendations for overnight camping or parks that would already be closed at dusk. Does anyone have any suggestions? I live in South Tacoma.

ISO the vendor who makes these yard signs

Excuse my very rough drawing/example, but I’ve seen these yard signs around Tacoma and even remember seeing the vendor at a farmers market recently. Does anyone know the name of the vendor? Been scouring the internet to no avail!

Update: found him! Picked up exactly what I was looking for from Paul / Polliwog Creative himself this afternoon. Thanks everyone!
