Whirlpool washer control board interchangeability
I have a Whirlpool WTW5105HW1 that had a drain pump fail shorted and then smoked the main control board. It will now flash the green indicator LED, but then only lock and unlock the lid repeatedly and “prime” the water valves over and over. Touch panel doesn’t respond.
It was originally equipped with the W11538092 board. I ordered a “lifetime warranty” board from a parts seller on eBay and the new board arrived completely DOA with ZERO functionality. I intend to send it back under their return policy.
There is a WTW6120HW0 for sale on marketplace somewhat near me (2 hours) with a leaky drum but functional electronics. This washer has the W11543998 board in it.
The boards are identical in appearance and plug configuration. I assume the difference is in firmware/software, but would this board serve as a working replacement for my WTW5105HW1? The Google-returned answers are a little polarizing and Whirlpool Livechat doesn’t respond. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with this?
