hello

just recently got the urge to fish in the Bay Area. I live close to the San Leandro-alameda shore and wanted to start fishing for some striped bass and wherever else I can catch from mainly from a pier or maybe the shore.

i bought a daiwa bg 4500 reel already (it was on sale) but im trying to find a rod ideally under 150 but could bump up the budget to 200.

so far seems like a daiwa saltiest, phenix m1 or dark matter sps rod would work?

specs wise I think I need something 7’+ and able to throw a 1-6oz lure weight or is that too heavy? I plan to throw a hi lo rig with bait near channels
