Sorry if I misunderstood, but the reason why Homelander is the way he is, at least in the comics, is due to Noir's gaslighting.
If Noir never drove Homelander insane, or if Homelander told Vought about the recordings, could he have been a genuine hero? Taking into account that Vought is still his employer and generally the universe's setting.
