Derya Dy9 CA version not dropping magpul gl19 pmag magazines (POSSIBLY FIXED/SOLUTION?)
Dy9 + PMag drop issue – it's the plastic bulge, not the mag disconnect
Howdy y'all! If you own a Dy9 and are having trouble getting PMags to drop freely, it's most likely caused by plastic magazine bulging when fully loaded. The OEM Derya or OEM Glock mags have metal reinforcement that helps reduce/prevent this.
The Test
Using 124gr Blazer + PMag 10 GL9, I removed one round at a time and pressed the mag release each time. Results:
- 4 rounds or fewer → drops freely, just like OEM/Glock mags ✅
- 5 rounds or more → hangs up, requires physically pulling it out from the bottom ❌
You can actually feel the binding/friction in the magwell when it's fully loaded.
Note on the mag disconnect
I've seen people suggest removing the magazine disconnect to fix this — I tried it and it did not solve the problem. If you want freely dropping mags but want to keep your mag disconnect, you don't need to remove it. Hopefully this saves someone from unnecessary disassembly.
Possible Solutions
- Shave down the sides of the PMag where it's binding (haven't tried this yet)
- For now, just keep in mind it won't drop freely with 5+ rounds loaded
- Use metal reinforced mags
- Shave / polish the magwell (not sure if it's a good idea)
I've read other people having no issues with this so maybe it's the production quality of my DY9 and has a thicker magwell than others.
