Buyers regret? Not sure how to move

I went ahead and ordered a Staccato HD P4. After all the bells and whistles it’s just north of 3k. I can afford it but the cost doesn’t sit well with me. . I’m looking for something that I can conceal carry and count on. I have a p320 currently with over 4,000 rounds through it and

No issues. I just don’t trust it to carry bc well it’s a 320. I would sincerely appreciate any recommendations on something I can get and maybe buildup that is going to shoot flat and crisp without costing even half of the Staccato. I’m leaning towards an m&p 2.0 or 365 XMacro Comp. Is there anything else out there that I should consider? I really do appreciate any input. Thanks

First AR

This is my first AR that I picked up from my local gun shop, and I’m still trying to fully understand California compliance laws. I’m not very knowledgeable yet, so I want to make sure I’m not doing anything wrong.
From what I understand, it has a detachable magazine and what looks like a pistol grip, but I’m not completely sure. I’m confused about the whole “featureless vs fixed magazine” thing and what that means for my setup.
Can someone help me confirm whether this is California compliant? I just want to make sure everything is legal and I don’t get myself into trouble.

What are your helpful tips and tricks for range trips?

I'd asked this before, but figured it'll be nice to hear from our community again about useful advice.

Pic for attention. The challenge was to shoot a face within the outline. I opted for the frowny face.

M17 EDC

I KNOW there are a lot of options about sig but this is by far one of my most favorite guns to shoot. Easy recoil control and it feels great, hefty. I’m a bigger guy so I do conceal carry this bad boy.

Aussies want to shoot some guns!

Hey all 👋

My friend and I have just finished EDC in Las Vegas and are in Los Angeles for a few days. We want to go to a shooting range and fire a few pistols but apparently the laws here in CA don't really allow tourists who have never fired a weapon to go to the range.

Just wondering if there is anyone on this reddit that is keen to go down to the range and show a couple of Aussies what America is all about!

Cheers 😎

Gen 4 Maglock issue

Is this why people say try get the Gen 2 Maglock? The rear of the dust cover hinge pushes it down so the tab of the Maglock is below the upper.

Ammo Concern

I bought a couple boxes of these XTP rounds and in one of the boxes 2 rounds came out looking shorter than a normal one. It’s 9mm rounds. I’m wondering if I should be concerned or if I should just not shoot the rounds. Thanks!

Preparing Two Rifles for Concord, CA 25m Rifle Clinic 5/23-24 and Sacramento 200yd Rimfire KD 5/30-31

I’m having back-to-back Appleseed events the next two weekends, and I’ve set up two rifles.

I put a new Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 5-25x50 scope on the 10/22. This is the rifle I got my Rifleman’s patch with in November, and I had borrowed the same model of scope for the second day of the clinic. Most people don’t need that much scope, but with my eyesight I do. It looks crazy huge, doesn’t it? Even with the Magpul high cheek riser kit, I had to build it up with some foam to get decent eye alignment. I’m looking forward to getting everything dialed in at the 25m clinic so I’ll be ready for the 200-yard Rimfire class the following weekend. I’m very excited for that RKD event!

The Fighlite SCR is a new rifle that I’ve only fired on one trip to the range so far to function test it, and now I’m setting it up. I put the old Vortex Crossfire II 2-7x32 scope that I took off the 10/22 on the SCR. I added a Mathew’s Fabrication cheek riser and Cole-Tac handguard wrap on it, along with a few upgraded parts. You don’t see many “ranch rifle” format center fire rifles at Appleseed, so it will be interesting to try it out. I’m going to take it to the second day of the 25m clinic and see how it does for Appleseed-style sling-assisted shooting. The manual of arms is new to me, so this should be interesting. If it works well, I hope to swap the big scope onto it and use the SCR at a 400-yard full KD next year.

I’m looking forward to these two weekends and trying the new rifle setups!

Do I need a FFL to sell a Slide?

With all the confusion about the new laws in California I was wondering if I need to go through a FFL to sell a Sig p320 Pro Cut Slide with a red dot. Its just the slide and red dot. No barrel or frame or anything else

Where to shoot near San Diego?

I’ve been to a few ranges in San Diego now, but I’d really like to get out in the open with no restrictions somewhere. I tried Pink Gate, but it seems it is closed all summer for fire hazards, along with all of the BLM land in San Diego County. I take it, then, that I need to go all the way to Imperial County to shoot legally.

I looked at a map of BLM land and it seems that there is plenty of it in Imperial County, but I can’t seem to find information anywhere on where it is legal to shoot. I know of the Split Mountain and Ocotillo spots, but I’ve heard those get overcrowded and dangerous. So my first thought is that I will just drive out there on the 8 and find some spot to walk out into the desert on BLM land with a safe backstop. I’m only shooting a pistol, so I’m not too concerned about distance.

Is this a reasonable (and legal) plan? Any fellow San Diegans have recommendations for me?
