Should I do arches for my kitchen?
Hi, looking for advice on my new kitchen design. It is currently in the middle of our house, basically in the hallway. We want to move it to the back. To do this we need to remove a wall which it turns out is a lot more expensive than we thought.
We have come up with an alternative design with a large arched doorway and pass-through window that would allow us to keep the structural wall support. The view in the images is facing east, so the wall with the stove and sink faces north east. I am in Australia. Room dimensions are 2.8*4.3 m (approx 9*14 ft). The doorway is 1.2 m (4ft) and the arch is 1.5 m (5 ft) wide. The ceiling in that area is 2.4m (7.8ft), but over 3 m (10ft) in the rest of the room
My question is do you think this will feel too closed off and dark? The rest of the room it would open onto is very light and bright.
Apologies the pictures are just IKEA so I couldn't show actual arches. We would also consider stepped opening or just rectangular like a normal doorway.
