MSG Season Tickets Not Renewed
I have been a full-season Knicks and Rangers ticket holder for over 20 years. Like many longtime subscribers, I stayed loyal through some very difficult seasons. Over the years, MSG even recognized our commitment with plaques thanking us for our loyalty and support.
Now, it appears that hundreds of longtime season ticket holders, including me, have been notified that our season ticket memberships will not be renewed.
From what many of us understand, subscribers who resold some of their tickets on the secondary market may have been targeted. It has been alleged that MSG and Ticketmaster are eliminating these accounts so there is less competition in the resale market, allowing them to exert greater control over ticket pricing. If true, this would make tickets even less affordable, especially for less desirable games that have traditionally relied on fan-to-fan resale.
When I first became a season ticket holder, it was my understanding that I had a first right of refusal to renew my seats each year. If that understanding has changed, I would like to know what has changed and why.
If you are a longtime Knicks or Rangers season ticket holder whose renewal has also been denied, especially within the last few years, please share your experience in the comments or send me a private message. I'd like to connect with others who have been affected so we can better understand what is happening, and discuss what options, if any, may be available.
The more people who speak up, the better we can understand what's happening.
