My senior dog has lost his hearing. He was an independent calm dog that slept for hours. He is now not able to sleep, has panic attacks at night. He does a constant low growling and then sharp barks. He is stressed and restless most of the time, needing us to constantly comfort him. Vet told me to up his Gabapentin and Trazadone. That this may be dementia brought on by the sudden deafness. It’s been about 5 weeks since we noticed his hearing loss. Is this a transition phase for him? And advice is appreciated. I miss my dog.
