Let’s talk about what a POS this woman was. First, she denied being Julie’s birth mother. Flat out lied to her face. Then she came back into Julie’s life just to tell her she could never meet her family — that their relationship had to be kept a secret. And then we find out she was married to Julie’s biological father the entire time, meaning the people Julie was being kept from were her own father and full siblings! 🤯
And after all that, she had the audacity to ask Julie to test to be a donor when her husband got sick? The cruelty, the deception, the manipulation—how do you do that to someone, your daughter, and live with yourself? She robbed Julie of the truth about her own identity and family. Absolutely despicable person inside and out.

Who really caused all the mess: Sophie Deveraux

Sophie called an Original vampire for help dealing with Marcel, but the entire situation was really one of her own making. After losing faith in the Ancestors and the traditions of her coven, she revealed the Harvest Ritual to her vampire hookup Marcel and to Pastor Kieran. Bringing Pastor Kieran into it had even worse consequences. Horrified by the ritual, he threatened to openly opposed it, which angered one of the elder witches enough to place a hex on his nephew, Sean. Marcel intervened and stopped the ritual, preventing the resurrection of the other young witches.

Jane-Anne grew desperate to bring her daughter back and ultimately sacrificed herself, Sophie completely reversed course. Suddenly believing in the Ancestors again, she became obsessed with finding and sacrificing Davina in order to complete the Harvest Ritual she had helped destroy in the first place.

In the end, Sophie’s choices created a domino effect that led to the deaths of her sister, her niece, and eventually herself and also a vampire war by bringing in the originals.

Unpopular opinion: I can’t stand Davina

I cannot stand Davina. People give her a pass because she’s a kid, but her self-righteousness and impulsive decisions create more problems than they solve. Marcel basically created a monster by saving and empowering her. The moment she realized how powerful she was, she started acting like she didn’t have to listen to anyone — even Marcel, the person who protected her. Her refusing to release Elijah showed how arrogant she had become.

What makes her even more frustrating is how she constantly judges the Originals as monsters while ignoring the damage she causes herself. At least characters like Klaus, Marcel, and even Vincent understand what they are. Davina always acts like she’s unquestionably right, even when her actions make situations worse.

And honestly, her hatred for the Originals never matched the level of fear or caution she should’ve had. These are ancient vampires with a thousand years of experience and brutality behind them, yet she constantly challenged them like raw magic alone made her untouchable. Like girl, they will fuck you up. Instead of coming across as brave, it often felt reckless and arrogant. The writers protected her so much that it became hard to sympathize with her after a while.

Elijah and Klaus

Man, for this to be a vampire show, my sappy ass cried at several deaths. When Elijah and Klaus (hated them for different reasons during different seasons) died, I bawled. I couldn’t understand why Elijah would do that and not want to be there for Hope. Upon my rewatch, I think my boy was just tired. 1000+ years is a long damn time.
He’s my favorite Original by the way.

Worst mother of the millennium Esther

  1. She changed her children into vampires against their own will.
  2. Then tried to kill them.
  3. Went on to decide they should be mortal after they’d live 1000 years as vampires without any discussion with them. Rebekah would have been open to becoming human.
  4. Tried to kill Hope.
  5. Had an affair and got pregnant by a werewolf. Made that child weak with a talisman and the victim of her psychotic husband to hide her affair.

I’m on S3E13 and fully crying over here 😭

The episodes that hit me the hardest are the ones where they lose family. I know it’s a vampire show and loss comes with the territory… but still. So much of this feels avoidable, and I hate seeing my girls lose the people they love and I can’t stand Bill.
