What are your best tips for staying out of your head during a match?
I’ve read the Inner Game of tennis and found the tips really helpful, but wondering if you have other tips? I played tennis as a kid (not super competitively) and I’ve just started playing again in the last year- mostly doing lessons/clinics, but now getting more and more into matches and on a USTA league. I just had no idea how many triggers I would face doing something that brought me so much joy prior to playing more competitively. Did I play like crap? Bad day. Played well. Good day. My partner is getting better than me? Keep up. The girl I typically beat in singles just beat me? I’m falling behind. Will I even get asked to be on a team again? And a small fraction of these are actually USTA matches. It didn’t start out like this, but I’ve somehow dug myself into this rut. How do I bring it back to joy?? I don’t want to stay in the bubble of clinics all the time. 🫠
