Is this a bad idea??

Traveling a very long way tomorrow and I really want my own racket for vacation. Is it safe to pack it this way or am I taking a risk here?

Blade v10 vs Whiteout V2

Anyone played with Wilson Blade V10 18x20 and Solinco Whiteout V2 18x20 give me a comparison?

Context: I’m ex D1 player still playing with Blade V8 18x20. Getting older. Racket is demanding. And really I’m bored. Tried making switch to new pure Aero 98 like all the cool kids do. But really didnt gel with it. Wanting to play with something a little more fun. Thinking Whiteout 18x20 might be a good move. Thoughts?

Inner Game of Tennis - What Game Are You Playing?

For those who've read Inner Game of Tennis: what game are you actually playing?

Gallwey's deepest insight to me isn't the Self 1/Self 2 framework. It's the question of what game you're really playing beneath the surface.

I'll go first. I play at a club with a clear hierarchy. My real game is being seen playing well by the top players so I get invited into their matches. Every error carries extra weight because it's not just a lost point. It's evidence against a narrative I'm trying to build. I know my level is there. I've played with these guys one or two times and held my own. But that underlying game still hijacks my mechanics under pressure.

Once I named it clearly it was almost embarrassing how obvious it was.

What's your game?

Any tips on how to go pro?

Hey all, I'm currently 30 years old with a corporate job that I absolutely hate. Honestly, I don't really enjoy most things...but tennis, I love tennis. It's truly my one passion in life, I could play all day. After spending months thinking about this, and talking it through with friends and family, I've decided that it makes sense to quit my job and pursue my dreams. I want to go pro and try to make a living from tennis.

A bit more about me, I started playing tennis at 24 and have been at the 3.0 level for 6 years. I think with the right training, and the right racquet, I can go pro. I currently play with a pro staff 97 because I've been told my game style and talent is similar to Roger, but I actually want to model my game after Carlos, and was thinking about switching to a pure aero to help with my spin generation.

I'm wondering if ya'll have any tips for me? Any racquet recommendations / strings I should be using? Shoe recs?

Thanks all.

What should I do ?

Hi all. I just started playing tennis about 5 months ago. I like tennis, but I have a nervous system issue, so anytime I train with my coach, I forget things easily. He might say something 5 minutes ago, and I can only remember half of what he said. This means that whatever he teaches me last week, I completely forget this week.
But when I play alone or with my family, I remember quite well.

And because of this, I have already changed few coaches. Because I remember nothing, a few of them lost patience and started yelling, which made me forget even more. Some don’t yell, but I can see they lose interest day by day. So they just come and actually just try to feed me balls and that’s it.

I want to ask if any of you have this issue and how to overcome it. (I tried using a meditation app, but it does not work well).

Am I supposed to “love” how a racquet feels when learning?

Started a few months ago, and I think I’ve improved a lot lately but my initial line of thought was I’d wait at least a year before changing my racquet. I got a 100 sq in blade v9 and slapped multifilament strings on it

I don’t necessarily hate the racquet, but I don’t “love” it either. It just feels a little meh? It does the job and that’s it. Sometimes I don’t even feel the ball, and the feedback I get is from watching the ball’s flight path. I’m not sure how much of that is user error, but it’s probably the reason, right?

Lack of forehand power. Is my take back too small??

Recently started filming myself and noticed too things about my forehand. I don’t really have a lot of power on that shot (though I do have decent placement) and my take back looks very small on camera. How do I go about fixing this? Is the take back causing the lack of power?? Plz help!

Help me pick a tennis racquet

Currently i play with a vcore 100 with hyper g strings 50 lbs and have adapted to playing a high spin game. However, i find that im really inconsistent with shots, either landing out of the court or into the net. Fair enough its probably technique. But i want to play more consistent and work on improving my groundstrokes. Should i stick with the vcore or move to something like the speed or ezone or go more 18x20 racquets.

Sidenote: does playing with old strings = more inconsistency?

What is your current set up and why?

Since the start of this year I've been using the 2022 TF40 305 16x19, with Volkl V-feel at 53lbs, and Babolat Pro Response overgrips.

About to try new tennis balls too; Technifibre Soft and Yonex championship! What is your go to at the moment?

When should I use a bunt backhand?

I watched a video on a bunt backhand and tried it out today in a practice set. It honestly felt pretty great. I felt really confident in the shot (I normally feel nervous my backhand will go into the net).

My question is, when is it appropriate to use a bunt backhand vs a full swing backhand?

My coach is playing in the quarter-finals of a tournament tomorrow and i'm somehow more nervous than he is

My coach and kids coach is ranked top 100 in the country. This week he’s playing a big tournament, and he is seeded and he just made the quarterfinals.

i found out from chatting with someone at the club and now I’m just refreshing the tournament page like it's my problem

for context, this is the guy who on Tuesday morning was telling me to relax my grip and stop muscling my forehand. I was complaining about my serve. meanwhile he was about to go play a national-level QF

i don't know why I’m so invested. maybe because if my coach is good enough to make a QF at this level then every little thing he's been telling me to fix means something

Anyone else have a coach who competes at a high level? how do you handle the realization that your lessons are basically free wisdom from someone way above your tier

going to try not to spam the refresh button tomorrow. no promise ;)

Do you have to be rich to have a home court

There’s a family that I know who are members of the club I’m in, and I was over at their place and they have a home tennis court. It’s confusing because their house isn’t huge. How much does this cost. It’s a pretty nice court and it has fencing around it and everything. It’s kinda weird though because their kids aren’t even super into tennis so I don’t know if they had the court built or just bought a house with one

No Let serve rule?!

Our tennis league is about to start the new season and this year we will start using the no let serve rule.. not sure how I feel about this.
I've been seeing a lot of juniors tournaments, college tournaments, ITF tournaments using the no let serve rule.

I'm very 50/50 on this, curious what you guys think

Picleball ruined my forehand

I played pickleball 5x this month. Today I had tennis match and I was in shock that my strokes are very off. Forehand spin was very difficult, I just pushed it with continetal grip. I won that match barely but I think that its over with pickleball.

Did you try play picleball/padel and also ruin your tennis?
