Honeymoon over with the Vcore 98.

Hi everyone I’m looking for some advice. 6 months ago I purchased a brand new Vcore 98 8th gen after I had demoed it and really enjoyed it.

Ive been playing tennis for 15 years so im not exactly new at this.

I’ve tried 3 types of string setups with it. Polytour pro, hyper G, and now most recently confidential soft all at 50/48.

I’ve noticed after my initial honeymoon phase of the first month or two the inconsistency within the racket. Maybe I’m not good enough in some capacity, but the launch angle on this thing, the overpowered nature of it, and lack of control within the inconsistency at the baseline and at the net. I’m having trouble justifying the super expensive price range I’ve spent on this thing. My service is fantastic, the power you get from 70% strokes is crazy, but lots of balls long, and the tight angles I normally love trying to go for with my head radical mp and head boom mp ( both 2024) I just cannot seem to hit with this racket.

The Vcore 98 seems stiff as hell. It’s like hitting with a brick. My backhand feels like a complete struggle with this particular frame aswell. I just don’t feel locked in to do what I want like I can with the radical and boom. It feels like I’m panicking to make this work and fit me by trying these different strings out etc. the power is nice the spin is nice, but besides serving, I really am not enjoying the inconsistent nature of my hits with this racket. I thrive on control and knowing where my ball is going, and if I miss, I know it’s my fault and not the unpredictability of my racket.

Two questions-

  1. is there 1 last setup with this racket any of you Vcore fans can suggest to me to dial in this unpredictability and make it more control oriented and less launcy. Suggest a string, preferably poly. And suggested a tension. Should I raise to mid 50s or lower to mid 40s. Maybe something that allows more pocketing for control?

  2. Should I just pack it in and sell the Vcore, hope to get 80% and plug it into another racket ( that I will demo for a longer duration this time)

Notable rackets I’ve been interested in since looking for more control rackets are the new Blade V10 98/100, Yonex Percept 100/100D( I’m worried Yonex just has a feeling and although different will feel too similar to the Vcore any users please comment), and any other suggestions you may have.

Thanks and apologies for the long post.
