Helping my sister

My big sister and I were always pretty tight growing up, but over the past few years we’ve become extremely close again and it’s been really nice. She’s been struggling with anxiety and depression, and she often feels very lonely even when we’re spending time together. Our parents like it that we spend time together.

She’s told me that physical affection helps her a lot — things like long hugs, cuddling on the couch, or just being physically close. It seems to calm her down and makes her feel less alone. I really want to be there for her in the best way possible and help her feel supported and cared for. I love how close we’ve gotten and I want to keep strengthening that bond while helping with her mental health.

What are some things that have actually helped when you’ve supported a sibling or loved one through anxiety and depression? How can I help her best?
