An Open Letter to Abhijeet Dipke and CJP: My 2 Suggestions

Abhijeet, instead of demanding the Education Minister’s resignation, ask the government to appoint someone new with the potential to become the finest Education Minister India has seen since Independence. This could offer both sides a dignified and constructive way forward.
Accountability for leaks in exams like NEET is essential. But changing one minister alone will not address education’s deeper structural challenges. The value lies in choosing someone ready to lead long-term reform.
AI presents an existential challenge. What students need to learn today must be planned by anticipating what an AI-driven world will look like five to ten years from now. I could go on and on, but many readers understand the danger. Our education system is in a code-red situation.
We need a visionary, tech-savvy Education Minister who understands AI, knows our education system inside out, and is genuinely passionate about transforming it. I am certain our system has many forward-looking senior civil servants, perhaps in their 40s or 50s, with deep experience in education, one of whom could be entrusted with this responsibility.
Without urgent action, our main resource, our human resource, could become a burden instead of an advantage.
This could be a win for both the BJP and CJP. Yes, BOTH. Education reform should not become another political contest. A constructive solution would be a victory for students, families, the government, and CJP.
I urge both sides to think seriously about it.
- Reconsider ₹1 Crore Compensation
Please reconsider the demand for ₹1 crore for families of students who lost their lives following the exam leak.
For over five years, I have helped families escape loan traps linked to edtech companies, I know its a serious issue. Please keep asking the government to support grieving families in debt.
But read about Suraj Bhaskar. His story is a painful reminder of how intense examination pressure and concern for one’s family can overwhelm a vulnerable young person. The desperation to clear NEET, IIT-JEE, UPSC, and other exams can be beyond comprehension.
Such compensation could unintentionally create a dangerous incentive for vulnerable students. Unverified reports of paper leaks can spread rapidly through small WhatsApp and Telegram groups after major exams. Such rumours could push some children towards an irreversible step, believing the compensation would support their families.
I know this sounds dark, but I say it from experience.
Please discuss these ideas with Mr Sonam Wangchuk and your team. After he called for a one-day fast, I fasted for two and a half days, and it was not easy. We are concerned about his health and well-being.
Let us try to reach a consensus, something the two sides rarely achieve in India.
