Named my half Turkish daughter Lila and struggling with it. Should I just change it or are these just pp emotions?
As a Turkish and Western European couple we named our 4 month old daughter Lila. (We pronounce it lee-luh) We were initially thinking of Ada (ah-duh) but since there are way too many Turkish Ada babies we went with Lila. Now I can't get rid of this feeling of cringe whenever a Turkish person asks her name. I don't live in Turkey and haven't lived there most of my life but I'm still proud to be Turkish. She has both of our last names. Am I overthinking this? Would this feeling go away? What do you think when you hear the name Lila? Any Turkish people would like to chime in as well? Please be kind.
