Advice on how I can help my boyfriend with tourettes?
My bf(24) has had touretts since around 10 years old and they are at a pretty severe point at this moment.
He has a neck tic that causes him so much pain that he will strain it and cant turn his head. Pain medicine does little since he cant stop the tic. My family got him a neck pillow and a neck brace which do help a little bit, because it helps prevent him from bringing his shoulder all the way up to his ear from the extra cushion.
He also has a tic where he rolls his eyes back and turns his head up.
His verbal tics are not too much of a concern for him since his physical ones cause him so much pain. And his physical tics have been lasting longer to the point where he isn't comfortable driving or even working right now.
Ive been trying to get him an appointment with a psychiatrist but the last 2 we have been referred to do not specialize in tourettes. I will keep looking though.
Is there anything else I can do to help him?
