(Newish) battery dead or something else?

2010 Kia Sedona. I suspect I have a dead battery but it's only ~8 months old, so I'm looking for alternative explanations. It can be jumpstarted and maybe sometimes started back again a short time after cutting ignition but usually doesn't. That's what happened with my old battery.

There are also some weird things.

  1. after failing to start and after removing the keys, the odometer reader and the dials sort of flicker and make clicking sounds. There are some other faint sounds. Also, the AC works very faintly even the engine doesn't start.

  2. my cheap battery tester shows light indicating battery can be charged. But it doesn't show any lights for battery state (neither the full charge light, nor low/empty). The device's manual says this could happen if the voltage is less than 4.5. when checking a day earlier, while running, it was indicating the alternator was working ok.

  3. visually, my untrained eye can't detect anything wrong with the battery. The ports look pretty regular, it's not swollen or anything.

Could it be something else than the faulty battery?
