This entire kitchen needs to be overhauled.

I am the owner of a one-bedroom condo in a 1929 apartment building and this is the kitchen. Several problems:

• No room for the microwave except that recycle bin cabinet.

• Open shelving above sink unusable due to cats. Needs closed cabinets.

• No other place for trash can.

• Chandelier on the left side is ugly and needs to be replaced with something more period-appropriate.

• Table and bench came with the condo and can go.

• Cheap ugly flooring.

• Not sure if I should look into installing a dishwasher or not? Would help with resale value, but I also don't anticipate selling anytime soon.

The problem is, I am not sure where to begin. Kitchen renos are expensive AF, especially since I would want something 1920s-30s style. I feel like I would have to hire a designer. I guess the most obvious place to start would be replacing the open shelving, but I'm not sure if I should do that before I have a plan on how to proceed further.

Idk, what do you think?

That's a fuck ton of money for me, but they've been rewired and are in excellent condition. Should I still go for it? The previous owners installed some stupid trendy sconces that I'm pretty sure are upside down. (They look similar to this, only facing upwards, which collects a lot of dust inside the lamp.) Except for the vanity and medicine cabinet, the bathroom is otherwise original. This photo was taken in another unit that still has the original sconces.

Also, it should be noted the sconces are the sole lighting source for the entire bathroom and I'm not sure how bright these are. They don't fit very large bulbs.

EDIT: So they're Lightolier, which was apparently a premium brand.
