How to add privacy but keep light in this space?

How to add privacy but keep light in this space?

My living room has these lovely bay windows. These blinds were installed by the previous owner and they make the room completely dark when shuttered. My street has heavy foot traffic and sometimes I wish things weren’t so visible from the outside, though I dislike sitting in a dark space more! I was thinking of getting sheer curtains or just doing window film, but I still want it to look nice. Any ideas??

EDIT: Thanks to everyone who has commented with recommendations! I used to have two huge snake plants on the sides of the window, with a big ol' monstera in the middle. I learned the hard way that they love this window most of the year, but can get scorched leaves in the summer as the window is SE facing. Which is also why I want some mild light filtering! Maybe even sheer fabric on the side windows to prevent constant direct, afternoon sunlight on the plants...

bedroom shed <3

feeling like I’m finally getting it in somewhat decent shape. I have a lil a/c unit and power and all that good stuff. Have a window a/c unit on the way so that should help save some space too. The only thing I’m really struggling with is the clothing storage. I put all my clothes in the totes in the corner and I have to lift each of them to get dressed everyday. Bed is a queen but I can’t go smaller cuz of my pups. I want to refurnish the desk into something else- it’s falling apart but it’s very sentimental. Advice welcome ! And bonus points if you can spot both pups lol. Apologies if text is too long, I am a yapper !

What can I doo??

I've lived here for two years and I still can't come to a conclusion.. I have BPD and can't adhere to any particular aesthetic, but I so desperately want a feminine, pink, cozy living room. I think plants would only die here, but something green and plant-like would be nice too, but I wouldn't know what to put there?? Ahh I don’t know, I've moved away so often, this is my first home where I can probably find peace and quiet for a long time.
It feels like this room is a mess and it gets dusty here so quickly. I'm about to throw everything away and repaint… I don't know what I was thinking with the chessboard... it's actually cool, but I should have made it pink. I lack vision. Dear women, girls, and everyone who feels addressed by this feed, I would be incredibly grateful for your advice!!

… and sorry for the messy room. 🤟🏻🥲

How can I improve my bedroom?

We do plan to paint at some point. Ideally I would like to put a floral mural on the wall with our bed.

How do y’all get furniture?

How the heck do you ladies manage to get large pieces of furniture into your homes? I live alone, I’m not very strong, and I’ve got nobody around who could help me carry in a big couch for example. Do you have any hacks for properly furnishing a place?
I’m so far limited to all the saddest flat pack crap from Amazon. :(

I Want a Cozy Living Room SOo Bad

Hi all! I feel like I’ve rearranged things a hundred times over and still don’t love the look of my first apartment. I was hoping to get some feedback on what I could do to improve. I’ve been aiming for an earth cozy look, but I feel like I’m falling short.

Any help would be much appreciated!

What can i do in this random corner??

Help! Pardon the mess, it used to have a cat litter enclosure there.

For context / vibes:
I have bar carts closest to the kitchen. I can maybe put over there, but I think it would look a little bad considering it’s one of those metal ones. I do have a ton of books so I could get a bookshelf. But I just don’t know. I wanna give the vibes of fun girl apartment with some gold accents, but I’m just so bad at design. lol

Showing off self made furniture ❤️

I have no one to share this with right now but I'm so proud. I built the couch years ago, then built the shelf next to it and above it a while back. Yesterday decided to turn the shelf and the couch into one piece by adding the shelf behind it for decor and books ☺️ I'm loving it 😭

(enby) Sunroom, office and foster kitten room

My favorite room now has kittens.

Always in progress- finishing that plant stand, and it will be filled up soon! 🪴 🌱 🌼 🪴

The more delicate decor came off the shelves as well.

It’s small but I’m getting there

The picture frame is straight. The tapestry being fabric makes it look like it isn’t. Yes it bothers me 😂 I don’t know how to fix it.

They’re also framed tarot cards! Yes the dead plant needs to go but I can’t reach it currently 😂

I GOT SCAMMED

The landlord really went all in on the millennial grey WALLS, CHAIRS, AND COUCH it's so sad to look at every day :( So I ordered a cute green herringbone couch cover blanket from FUNNYFUZZY months ago only to find out it was a scam site, I didn't do my research and turns out no one ever gets their order. I'm still trying to get a refund but they don't reply 🤷‍♂️

SO I need advice on how to brighten things up cheaply, there's a matching armchair too!

Should I put my WFH desk in living or bedroom?

Hi beauties! I work from home 2 days a week and I’m trying to decide where to put a desk in my apartment.

Option 1: In the living room, to the left of my couch where the plants currently are.

Option 2: In my bedroom.

I always hear bedrooms should stay work free for better sleep/relaxation, but I’m worried a desk in the living room could make the space feel cramped and I would think about work a ton in there too since I'm always in there for other than sleeping.

I recently bought this jute/warm wood mirror to replace the black one above the couch, so the apartment is moving toward a warmer “modern organic” look.

Also, the dining table next to this and my tv stand are a warm walnut wood color.

Would you put the desk in the living room or bedroom? And would you go with warm wood or black for the desk?

Thanks!

P.S. Please don't mind the mess. I'm under the weather and haven't kept up.

This entire kitchen needs to be overhauled.

I am the owner of a one-bedroom condo in a 1929 apartment building and this is the kitchen. Several problems:

• No room for the microwave except that recycle bin cabinet.

• Open shelving above sink unusable due to cats. Needs closed cabinets.

• No other place for trash can.

• Chandelier on the left side is ugly and needs to be replaced with something more period-appropriate.

• Table and bench came with the condo and can go.

• Cheap ugly flooring.

• Not sure if I should look into installing a dishwasher or not? Would help with resale value, but I also don't anticipate selling anytime soon.

The problem is, I am not sure where to begin. Kitchen renos are expensive AF, especially since I would want something 1920s-30s style. I feel like I would have to hire a designer. I guess the most obvious place to start would be replacing the open shelving, but I'm not sure if I should do that before I have a plan on how to proceed further.

Idk, what do you think?

Living Room Arrangement Help

Looking for opinions on how to arrange my living room furniture!! Please excuse these bare photos, were a work in progress and i have since bought a coffee table in between the couches.

I’m having difficulty figuring out if there is any other configuration of the couches + tv than what I have? As it is currently I don’t feel I could get bigger comfier sofas than this space allows, or to have any of the seating actually face the tv without turning the back to the fireplace.

Help me with this paint color selection!

Help choosing finishes for bathroom refresh

Trying to update our early 2000s primary bath into a warmer organic modern, slightly mid-century vibe without fully gutting it.

Leaning toward muted sage/olive vanity cabinets, keeping the floor, updating/removing the wallpaper, and updating shower hardware/lighting. Attached are current photos + render inspiration.

Main question:
What vanity paint color would you choose to achieve this look while still feeling timeless and bright?

Also:
black hardware or warm brass?
should I ditch the current large mirror for 2 separate mirrors + sconces, or keep the large mirror for functionality/light?

Would love actual paint color recommendations if you have them!
