My milk crate & tote garden in zone 6b

Beets (red Detroit), white and red onions, carrots (bolero), potatoes (red norland, kennebec, Constance yellow). All sprouted and thriving! The two little laundry baskets are a bit of an experiment. I have a potato plant in each one, with layers of leaves and compost - both have sprouted!

Chestnut sapling is struggling?

Wondering what could be going wrong with my baby chestnut…as you can see the tips of the leaves are crisping and turning brown and there are light coloured spots. I grew it from an actual chestnut and it’s only a few months old. It’s getting full sun (inside, it hasn’t been outdoors yet and is not hardened off). Is this leaf damage a sign of the soil staying wet too long? I’m in Newfoundland.

Milk crate garden update

Growing great! Planted may 4th. Have yet to thin out my beets, will get to that this weekend hopefully! My carrots and potatoes in Tupperware totes have yet to sprout. Zone 5b in eastern Canada!

Doberman x American Pitbull Terrier. 10 weeks & 10 years 🥰

He was rescued at 8 weeks along with litter mates and both parents. Mother was purebred Doberman Pinscher, father was APBT but without any type of papers (typical for breeds under the pitbull umbrella.)
Sometimes people say they don’t see any dobie traits in him, but once they Google photos of Doberman pitbull mixes (especially puppies), they get it. I have a feeling if I had cropped his ears, it would look more apparent. His personality traits are 80% dobie and 20% pitty. Either way - this is my adventure buddy, Future!! Been with me for the last decade. My soul dog. Any other dobie-pits out there?

Milk crate garden update!

  1. Moved from pavers to grass with patio rails lifting them off the ground for drainage and air flow.

  2. Planted beets, red and white onions, and a few types of carrots (just sowed pelleted seeds today.)

  3. Planted some onions alongside some carrots (not yet sprouted) to prevent against rust fly.

  4. About to plant my seed potatoes tomorrow in the remaining plastic totes. They aren’t full of soil! They have a false bottom made of sticks, with landscape fabric on top before the soil is added.

  5. Soon I will be thinning the beets!

More updates to come 😊

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy/injections for TMJ disorders. Looking for your experiences!

I’m about to get these procedure in July, after 6 years of suffering with TMJ. For anyone who may not know, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a minimally invasive regenerative treatment - much better than Botox. It uses a patient’s own concentrated platelets, taken from their blood, and injected directly into the joint. It stimulates cartilage repair, reduces inflammation, improves mobility, and is superior for alleviating pain long-term.

I’m looking to hear from others who have gone ahead with PRP injections. The good and bad.

Bought a house on a rock because I saw the potential. Potential for what, I’m not sure!

I bought a house in Newfoundland on the top of a hill. I have this beautiful, massive rock formation in my backyard. (Photos 1&2, I’m sitting there for scale.) There’s an area where you can easily walk up to the top (photos 3&4), and once on top, I have a bunch of land beyond the rock where small trees grow along with blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries. (Photos 6-8.) I know there’s something amazing I can do with this space but I really need inspiration. I’d like to add some kind of steps to the top of the rock, and I’d like to clear the shrubbery on top - a massive job. Not sure where to start or what else I could do…my vision is to make it have magical enchanted forest vibes. I already have started to make a small flower bed along the bottom. I’m thinking also about transplanting moss to the rock, because I have a ton of moss and love it. As for the yard, the grass is in rough shape and I’m going to replace it with white clover. I want a natural, kind of wild vibe. Anyway - I’m looking for ideas, inspiration, etc. I need to build a patio back here as well, and I’m wondering if I could incorporate the rock into it somehow? Any advice, ideas, and inspiration welcome!!

My great aunt. Can anyone connect with her energy?

This is a loved one of mine who is very dear to me and shaped who I am today. She was my great aunt, but much more than that to me. She passed away in 2012 at the age of 73. This photo was taken just for me, in 1994 or 1995, as we were separated at the time. We shared a very unique bond/relationship. If anyone can pick up on the specifics of that, it would be very validating! I miss her dearly and am hoping to hear any type of message or words of reassurance from her.

37 years old - does my skin look like it’s missing something?

I have a fairly simply skincare routine that includes alternating between 2 cleansers, a serum, a day lotion and heavy night cream. Also, frozen cucumber lol. In my 20s I destroyed my skin barrier by never moisturizing, not hydrating properly, and using an abrasive acne wash every day for like 3 years. Just wondering if my skin looks like it could benefit from something else? Also, no matter what I have purple eye bags and I’m afraid they make me look much older and dragged out than I am. Any advice? Thanks ❤️

Coleus pruning advice! How can I shape this?!

I’ve been occasionally pruning this plant to achieve a bush shape….but as you can see, the two largest stalks are so bare and leggy. I’m hoping to repot into a wider pot, and then do some kind of chop and prop. But I’m unsure where to cut it?! Near the top of the stalks, under the most mature leaves? Would I then just trim away the rest of the stalk? Help!

Is it freakish that my wife and I share our reusable pads and period underwear

We thoroughly and properly wash them between each use - we aren’t sharing dirty products. We just have one shared collection of products that we both use. Anyone else?! We were just laying here talking and wondering if other lesbian couples do this too?!

Milk crate / container garden progress! dog tax attached

Thanks to everyone who shared feedback on my last post!! I’ve since moved the crates off the pavers and on to some grass. I’m going to be moving the whole thing farther from the ledge before I plant, so I can access it on all sides. I’ve added old patio rails to lift everything off the ground as well. For those asking, I put landscape fabric at the bottom of the milk crates for better drainage! I have beets planted, but nothing else will be planted until the end of the month. I’m growing potatoes, arugula, leeks, and carrots as well. Different soil mixes for each. My arugula and leeks have been started inside and are growing great. To those who suggested topping up the milk crates - I will be doing that soon, too! (I know the black pot is only half full, I ran out of soil today lol).
