[sun care] I FOUND MY HOLY GRAIL UNTINTED MINERAL SPF AND HAVE TO SHARE

If you go back in my post history from a couple weeks ago, I asked for SPF recommendations with a long long checklist of qualities I was looking for. I had a lot of naysayers saying that I was asking for a product that doesn’t exist. I’ve tried probably 50-75 face SPFs in my adulthood, and I bought 7 from the list of recommendations from yall, and I finally found the one. (I use ¼ tsp on my face and neck and have worn this for about a week straight and reapplied later in the day)

-mineral SPF (chemical SPFs don’t have zinc oxide which protect the skin barrier, and chemical SPFs often irritate my sensitive skin)
-less than $25 for 1.7 oz (this comes well under at $17 for 1.7 oz)
-no white cast (I have light-medium neutral-olive skin)
-doesn’t pill under make up
-hydrating formula
-not greasy
-lightweight
-absorbs easily and doesn’t leave a film
-not drying and doesn’t cling to dry skin
-30+ spf (this is 50 which is incredible)
-easily available in the US
-doesn’t cause break outs

Alternative to Neutrogenia Makeup Wipes

First I just want to say I know that makeup wipes are not good for the environment. So I try my best not to use them.

But I'm grieving right now and going through severe depression and some days I'm not able to get the motivation to get out of bed and wash my face. So I keep neutrogenia wipes by my bed.

I no longer support Neutrogenia.

Does anyone know of alternatives to those makeup remover wipes?

Please only suggest wipes as I stated above.

Thank you

Edit: To the person asking why I didn't drop neutrogenia 10 years ago: I didn't know about this before. I literally found out about this yesterday. Had I known before I would have dropped neutrogenia then. I don't think it's fair to criticize people for something they had no idea about. Supposedly she wrote about it in her book which only came out 3 months ago. Which I hadn't read so I was unaware. I found this out through an article yesterday. Regardless it's never too late to stand up for what you believe in.

People with acne prone skin, what moisturizer do you use?

My face (and body) are so dry from all the stuff i use to treat my folliculitis and i kid you not, EVERY moisturizer I’ve used gives me cystic pimples, sometimes the next day. It’s extremely frustrating.

Because i can’t use any moisturizer, my skin is dry, peely, bumpy, red, and my barrier is constantly destroyed which gives me pimples too lol.

I’ve checked the ingredients on an ingredient checker and google gemini and literally every moisturizer seems to have acne causing ingredients even if they’re labeled as non-comedogenic.

What do I use? Thank you!

How much are we spending on sunscreen per month?

I am 35F and I’ve really started taking my skincare seriously. I have a simple, effective routine. Cleansing balm , gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen (during the day) or Altreno (in the evening). I’ve always avoided the sun, but I have been much more diligent with the sunscreen usage in the last couple of months because I now realize how important it is daily. I’ve don’t a lot of trial and error to find the right sunscreen for my dry, sensitive skin. I’ve landed on the HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit. It’s perfect for my melanated skin and I feel like I finally ENJOY applying sunscreen.

With that said, I feel like I’m going through a 50ml tube monthly. When not on sale, it’s about $20-25 per tube. Is this normal to spend monthly on sunscreen? How much do you spend monthly for facial sunscreen? Maybe this is just a cost I need to be okay absorbing. I’m all about investing in my health/wellness, so I can add this to that category. But I feel like my other skincare lasts longer than a month. lol. (I don’t think I use “too much,” but I do use the proper 1/4 tsp for face and neck).

Would you let a cosmetologist do a PRX-T33 facial on you?

Hey everyone,

I recently came across this new facial procedure called PRX-T33.

It’s a non-invasive biostimulator and skin rejuvenation procedure.

It combines 33% trichloroacetic acid (TCA), hydrogen peroxide, and kojic acid to stimulate deep collagen production and cell turnover without causing the heavy surface peeling, frost, or downtime of a traditional chemical peel.

The claims are to remove hyperpigmentation, melasma, age spots, dullness, etc.

I was Googling it and the place I was interested in told me their cosmetologist does it. I am not trying to downplay cosmetologists whatsoever, but when I was doing my research I guess there is conflict regarding this facial.

Some say a dermatologist, plastic surgeons, and nurse practitioners should do it since it focuses on the deep layer of the skin and cosmetologists should be supervised.

However, the place I inquired about said only the cosmetologist does it.

What do you guys think?

Would you personally care or not think much of it? A potential red flag?

Neutrogena Alternatives

I started using the hydro boost gel cream last year and it’s the only moisturizer I’ve ever used that doesn’t break me out. My skin breaks out very easily. I no longer want to support Neutrogena. Wondering if anyone has recommendations for alternatives to this product from Neutrogena?

TIA

Glabellar “11” lines and forehead wrinkles

I just turned 39 and I feel like my Glabellar lines are really starting to stay put - even at rest. I feel like I carry stress in my forehead.

There is a genetic factor. I was born with a furrowed brow (lol) and my Mom, Dad, and Sister all have similar 11 lines.

I live a pretty healthy lifestyle overall, stay hydrated, and I have been doing skincare more consistently recently. Moisturizing, SPF, Retinol.

I am a bit concerned about the amount of wrinkles and forehead lines that are starting to remain even at rest. I’ve done quite a bit of research and Botox is often recommended.

Just thought I’d check here for some advice. The rest of my skin is pretty healthy, and I don’t mind wrinkles as I age, but the Glabellar lines in particular make me look more serious than I would like to.

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

Arnica

I am getting spammed with ads for arnica skin balm. It is so intriguing for me so I need to hear if it bonkers to buy it.

I have an MLM skin care routine (the light blue line) and I use under eye concealer during the winter with Jones Road face balm.

Willing to ditch the MLM routine, too.

Indent on forehead

Hi, I’m almost 30 and have noticed this giant line in my forehead. It is most noticeable when I lie down or when exercising (this was taken running) so I’m pretty sure its a vein, even though it feels somewhat like an indent.

It would also be from scrunching my face ? I furrow my brow deeply when I am concentrating ….

Would Sculptra help something like this?

Is there a way to get rid of this pouch resting on my nasolabial fold? When I have my head tilted down it ages me greatly.

Open to any and all suggestions. I use a vibration plate for drainage and also use a nuface microcurrent device.

Just turned 30 - developing lots of age spots?

I recently turned 30 and have been noticing light brown patches on my cheek bones forming this year and last. I have lots of light freckles, I am VERY pale, and I wear SPF 50 year round at least since my mid 20s and have always worn SPF in the summer from the age of 16 and up. I cannot remember the last time I had a visible sunburn on my face to be honest!

Everything online seems to suggest these are uncommon for people of my age and lifestyle. Is it maybe just large freckles?! I can’t understand what I’m doing wrong to get such premature age spots.

I DID get severe sunburn as a child but that was predominantly on my forehead/shoulders whereas these spots are on my cheekbones and one has developed on the back of my hand.

What am I doing wrong?!?! Help!!

35F – Need help with uneven skin texture, pores and old acne marks

I’ve had acne-prone skin since my teenage years. I don’t get much acne anymore, maybe 1–2 pimples around my period.

My skin is combination/oily and my main concerns now are uneven texture, visible pores, old acne marks and dull skin.

I just want my skin to look clearer, smoother and healthier.
What products or treatments would you recommend? 🤍

Smile lines

I know this has probably been asked million times already but I want to get opinions on what actually could help in reducing the line (I know we can’t fully get rid of them) I’ve always had them since I was a kid it’s almost like dimples in my smile line but I’ll be 33 and they’ve become deeper since weightloss and age and perhaps kids lol.

Mine are more etched in less of a deep fold if I pull it taut it disappears, I’ll try to insert a photo! My over all skin is good - I don’t want to do fillers I had a bit put in in them and it made it worse and puffy so I had it dissolved.

I’m looking into microneedling now and perhaps laser treatments.

I heard fractional laser is a good option but I want to hear opinions. On which lasers can help reduce them

Fotona? YAG etc

Please if anyone has anything that actually helped I’d love to hear about it.

EDIT: Uploaded in the comments

Am I the only one who feels this way?

I started going to a med spa for Botox and lasers for skin texture. I’ve only gone a few times and they’re incredibly kind and professional but I always feel so self conscious and ugly. I’m not a girly girl but I care about taking care of my skin, and all the workers are always young and pretty with their fake nails and lash extensions and I feel like a mole rat going in there and talking about all the things on my face that I hate. It’s such a weird experience because I’m usually a pretty confident person. I was just curious if anyone else feels this way!

Red Splotches Appeared on Face

A couple months ago these red spots appeared by my nose and I thought they would naturally go away but they haven’t. They burn sometimes when i put certain products or cover up on them. Anyone have this happen before? Should I go to a derm? Thanks in advanced!

Skincare help for jowls and chin lines?

Hi everyone! I'm 31 and have always had a round face and some cheek lines, but did gain and lose weight a few years ago.

Not only have my cheek lines/jowls become more pronounced, some chin lines have appeared and I haaaate them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with or minimise them?

Routine is very minimal at the moment, with niacinamide and Rohto sunscreen in the morning and retinol and Cetaphil moisturiser at night.

So, I’m growing a beard…

I know the whole ‘don’t shave it it’ll come back thicker’ is a wives tale but I swear this all started out with me tweezing a couple of errant hairs in high school.

I am a recovering skin picker, and my favorite thing to do would be to tweeze all of these hairs until my face was basically flayed open. I’ve started to shave it instead so that I don’t get a chance to pluck at them, but I hate the feeling of having stubble and I’m so self conscious about it. When the hair is gone, lots of pink skin (scar tissue?) remains. I’m wondering:

Is this a good candidate for laser hair removal? Does anyone have experience with that process? Is there something else I could be doing about the hair?

What can I do for the pink skin underneath?

Thank you in advance ❤️

Sunspots/freckles after kids…. 2 kids in 5 years

Hi everyone! I use supergoops super screen combo moisturizer/sunscreen daily along with anua’s niancinamide + Trader Joe’s vitamin C in the evenings.

I’ve noticed more and more freckles and I’d love to get rid of them. Are lasers the best approach to get rid of these? I don’t really breakout much but the discoloration really irks me. Thanks!
