[sun care] I FOUND MY HOLY GRAIL UNTINTED MINERAL SPF AND HAVE TO SHARE

If you go back in my post history from a couple weeks ago, I asked for SPF recommendations with a long long checklist of qualities I was looking for. I had a lot of naysayers saying that I was asking for a product that doesn’t exist. I’ve tried probably 50-75 face SPFs in my adulthood, and I bought 7 from the list of recommendations from yall, and I finally found the one. (I use ¼ tsp on my face and neck and have worn this for about a week straight and reapplied later in the day)

-mineral SPF (chemical SPFs don’t have zinc oxide which protect the skin barrier, and chemical SPFs often irritate my sensitive skin)
-less than $25 for 1.7 oz (this comes well under at $17 for 1.7 oz)
-no white cast (I have light-medium neutral-olive skin)
-doesn’t pill under make up
-hydrating formula
-not greasy
-lightweight
-absorbs easily and doesn’t leave a film
-not drying and doesn’t cling to dry skin
-30+ spf (this is 50 which is incredible)
-easily available in the US
-doesn’t cause break outs

[product request] Looking for a hydrating spray for in between skincare steps and to rehydrate make up throughout the day for dry skin

Any other product recommendations instead? I have dry skin, and I'm focusing on hydration and barrier support right now. So would love any recommendations for sprays with ceramides or cica or centella or vitamin e etc etc. And would like a product that is both a skincare product that I can use to rehydrate between skincare steps and also fine enough to spritz over make up later in the day when I start getting dry and cakey but without ruining the make up, AND also is actually hydrating and not just the equivalent of plain water

I love the cicaplast balm so thinking of getting the spray from the same line for this? What are y'all's experience with this product? Is the mist fine enough to spritz over make up throughout the day?

And yes I do have hypochlorous spray and I love her, but can't use her during my morning skincare bc it oxidizes vitamin c serum. I also don't think it's hydrating enough for refreshing make up on my dry skin, just great for protecting against bacteria and sweat etc

What affordable holy grail products have you found that helped you the most with shine and smoothness and keeping ends detangled?

Hi yall! Im 32t, have fine 2b hair down to the bottom of my shoulder blade. I haven't colored it in 3 years but did bleach it for about 8 years before that. I have greasy roots but brittle ends that get tangled. (I did get a trim about 3 weeks ago which helped a lot)

I've been really committed to the abbey yung method for about 6 weeks now and I am seeing some improvements in certain areas but don't think I'm seeing any improvements in the shining and smoothing. And could use some help with detangling

So what products have you found that really changed the game for you? Ideally drugstore, but open to more expensive products if they're truly life changing

Looking for cool toned pastel pink blushes that actually has pigment

Powder, cream, liquid, etc formulas all welcome! First pic is exactly what I’m looking for if I can find it in an American drugstore or reliable Amazon seller. Other pics are other inspo, last pic is a product I bought which I do love the color but unfortunately it is too sheer

Also I am somewhat just getting into make up so I have a lot to learn. Maybe I’m looking for the wrong product to achieve this look or maybe such a light color with pigment just isn’t possible. Let me know your thoughts!

For those with oily scalp/roots, but dry brittle ends, how long did it take for you to see results with the abbey yung method?

TLDR; I’m seeing small improvements in my scalp and roots, but still have dry mid lengths and brittle ends. Anyone with similar hair type or any knowledge at all that can give me any advice? Not sure if I need to maybe go for a heavier conditioner, hair oil or leave in conditioner to address my dry ends. Or maybe use clarifying shampoo less often. But don’t want to compromise my greasy roots either.

I’ve been doing the abbey yung method for about 5 weeks now. I definitely feel like my hair feels a little thicker, my waves/curls are much more defined, my roots last a little bit longer, my scalp is wayyyy less itchy and flaky. So I’m seeing improvements! But my ends still feel and look dry and brittle and I don’t have much improvement in the smoothness and shininess department either. I know 5 weeks isn’t too long, but I do feel like I should be seeing a little more improvement in my ends after being so consistent.

I heat style maybe once a week and I’ve been trying to let air dry as often as possible instead of blow dry. I used to wash my hair 1-2x a week, but since starting abbey yung I’ve been washing it 2-3x a week. I sleep in two braids with a silk bonnet and a silk pillowcase.

My hair is 2B (I think), thin, down to the bottom of my shoulder blade, I got a trim a couple weeks ago, and I haven’t colored my hair in three years although I did bleach it for about eight years before that.

My main concerns I’ve been trying to address are itchy scalp, greasy roots, dry brittle damaged ends, and hair loss and I’d like to get a few inches of growth and just overall smoothness and shininess and thicker healthier fuller hair.

The products I’ve slowly introduced over the last 5 weeks from the abbey yung method are:

-L’Oréal salicylic scalp serum (1x a week before wash)
-Pantene abundant and strong scalp serum (every night),
-OGX coconut oil mist (pre wash oil every wash 2-3x a week),
-Epres bond repair treatment (2x a week),
-L’Oréal ever pure clarifying shampoo (every wash as my first wash bc I’ve been trying all these new products and have hard water and an oily scalp, 2-3x a week),
-Neutrogena t sal shampoo (1x a week as my second wash),
-Pantene abundant and strong shampoo (1-2x a week as my second wash), L’Oréal bond repair treatment (1-2x a week as a post shampoo treatment),
-Dove intensive repair conditioning mask (every wash as my first condition)
-L’Oréal gycolic and gloss conditioner (every wash as my second condition)
-OGX bond repair heat protectant leave in spray (drench my hair in this after every wash)
-OGX bond repair oil mist (lightly on my ends after every wash, and before bed every night)

[sun care] Please share your holy grail mineral SPFs that can be purchased in the US!

Still on the years long hunt for something that hits everything on this checklist:

-formula made with zinc oxide (I want those skin barrier benefits!) so can be 100% mineral or hybrid with zinc

-no white cast (I have olive skin)

-DOESN'T PILL UNDER MAKE UP

-absorbs easily into skin / doesn't leave a film

-$25 or less for 1.7 oz

-can be easily purchased in the US

-hydrating or at least non drying (I have dry skin)

-open to both tinted and non tinted recommendations, but really hoping to find a non tinted option as there seem to be plenty of tinted options that work

-doesn't cause break outs for normal skin types

Furthermore, if you have scientific info to share about WHY mineral spfs can't seem to do all these things at the same time, please share. Maybe I need to quit my hunt and just move on to a chemical sunscreen and kiss my dreams of zinc goodbye

If you had all the funds, time, and energy/willpower in the world, how many of the steps would you do and how often?

I read lots of routines and advice here and it seems most of you are doing a bond repair like once a week? Abbey herself says that “protein overload” isn’t a real concern. So what’s the main reason most of you seem to only do bond repair once a week when she has like half a dozen bond repair steps? I know she says you don’t have to do all the steps but just curious, is your personal reasoning for doing less steps because that’s what actually what’s best for your hair or because lack of time, energy, or money?

Currently dealing with an incurable disease diagnosis so hyper fixating on my vanity as a distraction and dopamine boost lol. I have a lot of time on my hands right now and enough funds and willpower to do an 11 step hair routine every wash day BUT don’t want to do too much if it’s actually WORSE for my hair

Looking for an agnolotti al Plin recipe that uses veal, rabbit, and pork with a veal reduction for the sauce

My grandpa is turning 93 next month and I want to make him our favorite dish from a restaurant he can’t visit anymore bc it is up a steep flight of stairs with no elevator. He lives about two hours away so take out isn’t really an option either. I am willing to ask the restaurant if they’d share their recipe but I thought I’d try my luck here first!

The recipe uses veal rabbit and pork as the agnolotti filling, and the sauce is a veal reduction. Lots of different agnolotti al Plin recipes online but they all use slightly varying meats and sauces, so seeing if any of you know of a recipe you love for either the agnolotti or the reduction or both! Thanks!

Make up over tretinoin peeling? Emergency advice for wedding season starting this weekend!

Ugh so I started tretinoin last summer, and I stuck with it for a good 8 months before i threw in the towel bc I could never get past the purge period and I wanted to feel good when we went to Europe in the spring. I figured out what I was doing wrong, and I restarted it again about 3 weeks ago, after probably a 2.5 month break. (I’m using 0.05% gel)

I was hoping my skin would be retinized enough that I would have an easy purge. And in ways it’s much better as of right now: I’m not having any acne break outs so far and my skin isn’t red and inflamed and irritated. But yesterday the snakeskin peeling started and today it’s BAD. Tomorrow we get on a plane and start a big wedding weekend for my boyfriend’s best friend. I know the plane will make me even drier. I don’t know how I’m going to tolerate any sort of make up but i am not a big-event-make-up-free-girly so i am stressed. I don’t need full coverage full glam but like i need something. Then next weekend is my lifelong best friends wedding that I’m a bridesmaid in and we are NOT getting our make up by a professional.

I stopped tretinoin on Monday, I won’t start it back up again til after my best friends wedding next weekend. I stopped vitamin c yesterday and won’t start that again til I’m past the purge stage. I’ve paused my 10% Azaelic acid serum as of today bc I’m not really sure if that helps the peeling or makes it worse. I’m currently using Vanicream cleanser but I’m gonna go buy something even gentler and non foaming.

Make up tips tricks techniques advice, product recs? Advice on how to quickly solve the peeling problem? Any routine advice?

The rest of my routine that I’m continuing is:

-Garnier make up removing hyaluronic acid cleansing balm

-Hypochlorous acid spray

-Bubble cosmic silk hydrating milky toner with ceramides

-Trader Joe’s hyaluronic acid serum (never under tretinoin)

-Skin 1004 Madagascar centella soothing gel cream

-La Roche posay cicaplast balm soothing therapeutic multipurpose cream

-Hero cosmetics force shield superlighr sunscreen broad spectrum spf 30

And I drink a shit ton of water and stay out of the sun and I dont dry my face with a towel

For dietary restrictions for plated dinner, did you print out separate menus or put everything on every menu?

For context, we have quite a few vegan/vegetarian/lactose free guests, who will be getting different appetizers, soups, salads, entrees, and desserts than the other guests. So every guest is getting salmon bisque, but those with these dietary restrictions are getting a vegan mushroom bisque, etc.

Is it more customary to print out individual menus for each of these guests or to have everything on the same menus for every guest?

Thanks!

Traitors Canada S2 is sooooo negative and intense and dramatic

I’m only on episode 5 so no spoilers please but Jesus lort. These faithfuls are unbearable. I loved Canada s1. I’ve loved all the us and uk versions regular and celebrity more or less. But this cast is tough to like. Hopefully it gets better. I do like Neda however but that’s about it?

Looking for Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel Pads dupe

I have somewhat dry, mildly acne prone skin and these work wonders on me, but I would love to find a cheaper dupe. (I only use them every other day or every two days, not every day)

They utilize a two step system with two pads which I’ve never seen in another brand, and I’m not super positive about the specific benefits of it but if you know of one that does the same thing, please let me know!

The active ingredients are glycolic, salicylic, lactic, and malic acids and soothing tea and flower extracts. And the second pad has ascorbic acid and retinol.

Furthermore, if you have dry acne prone skin and have a cheap chemical exfoliator you love even if it isn’t a dupe, please share.

Has anyone tried all or multiple of the Milano make it last setting sprays? (Dewy, moisture boost, sunscreen, OG)

Thoughts, rankings, comparisons on them if you have? Thanks! (I crossed out matte bc I’m not really interested in that one but feel free to leave your review of that one as well)

Picked up a bottle of La Gauloise Bicentenaire. Looking for recipe ideas!

Is it typical to just use this 1:1 as a green chartreuse substitute? Or does anyone have any cocktails specific to this that you can share? I can’t say I’m a green chartreuse drinker so I’m not very familiar with the flavor profile. Just picked this up on a whim bc it’s a pretty color lol but want to have fun with it!

Looking for a recipe for sauce made out of salmon (not sauce FOR salmon) Similar in texture and taste to a salmon bisque but for risotto or pasta

I know I can wing it and blend some baked salmon with heavy cream and seasonings but I’d rather work from a tried and true recipe for this one at first and not waste precious fish

And I know I can work from a salmon bisque recipe but most soup recipes are going to yield a lot more than I need since soup is the main dish and I’m looking for a smaller portion of sauce to be a component of a bigger dish. They also seem to call for a lot more ingredients and steps than I think necessary since the flavors in risotto will do a lot of flavor heavy lifting.

Anyway, kinda random. If you know of a recipe or have one yourself, please send it my way! Or if you just have some ideas or tips and tricks, I’d love to hear those too. Also welcoming any salmon bisque recipes since the ones online don’t seem to have many reviews so not sure about them. Will also happily accept other seafood bisque or sauce recipes that I can riff off of!

Or of course, if you already know of a salmon risotto recipe where the salmon is blended into the sauce, even better. Thank you!

[sun care] looking for a fungal acne safe SPF that is hydrating and doesn’t pill under make up and doesn’t have a white cast and is somewhat affordable. I’m at my wits end!

31f dry, acne prone skin

I loved Round Lab birch juice moisturizing UVlock but it was the cause of my break outs

I looooove CosRX lightweight invisible sunscreen but it pills horribly under make up

I like Drmtlgy universal tinted moisturizer spf but I find it drying

I find House of Hur weightless sun fluid drying as well

Really don’t like the Supergoop unseen texture or any of the dupes bc it makes me feel greasy
