A new friend asked me for recommendations and I thought to look through their library first, only to find that there is no search function. Of course with Pro you can search your own but not those of other people.

With a bit of time on my hands today, I searched around only to realise that I'd already saved the web tool invented by a reddit member u/Alet404

It's not immediately obvious but after loading the pages of another last.fm user you can sort by artists . [ change "entity" to artist > set list length to more than 10 eg 10000 and apply filter > search by name, part of name or whatever > reapply filter each time]
