I’m trying to reach 5,000 listened to artists! Give me some of your favorite artists I’ve probably never heard of
I developed a free Apple Music companion app for discovering new music based on users with similar tastes. Would love your feedback on the beta release
I built a free Apple Music companion app/site called MatchBeats and I’d love some honest feedback from fellow Apple Music users.
The idea started because I was frustrated that music discovery is mostly algorithm-driven. Apple Music and other services can recommend songs, but they can’t really tell you:
“Who has music taste similar to mine?”
MatchBeats analyzes your Apple Music listening history and:
• Finds people with similar music taste
• Shows why you match (artists, tracks, genres, and recent listening)
• Helps you discover artists and songs your matches love that you haven’t heard yet
• Lets you discuss artists and tracks with other fans
My biggest question:
Would you personally use something like this, or is music discovery already solved for you by Apple Music recommendations?
I’d genuinely appreciate the feedback.
absolute favorite album?
around new years i decided i wanted to listen to and rate one new album every week of the year. as i've recently gotten into shoegaze, i need recommendations for new/slightly underrated albums that, in your opinions, are musts!! bonus points if they're korean <3
currently, mine is after the magic by parannoul!!
please drop yours below :))
(album chart added to showcase what i've been listening to recently!!)
me when the compatibility test
i did one like a billion years ago but i can't find it. anyway, https://www.last.fm/user/InviteTheWalls
I feel like my taste is so weirdly specific, I will be pretty pleasantly shocked to see anyone Very High+ compatibility:)
reddit.comMake assumptions about me (race, gender, orientation, etc etc) based on my top 100
Yes, I'm bringing this back bc I never got the chance to do it and I apparently have the need for strangers on the internet to make assumptions about me based on the music I listen to 😂
Do your worst. 😂 Also not sure how long I'm supposed to wait to reveal if someone is right so I'll just try to keep tight-lipped for at least a day
Edit: 18 is Koji Kondo, famous Nintendo composer (Mario, Zelda etc)
Also please consider the totality of all 100 artists when making your guess :)
Trying my hand at a compatibility check
https://www.last.fm/user/Doomicus04
been on last fm for around 3 years
2827 artists, 76668 scrobbles
help me expand my music taste!!
i've been getting really into shoegaze/post-rock/noise rock lately but i want to branch out into even more genres.
here's my profile, check our compatibility and maybe drop some recommendations?
What would you assume about me based on my music taste..? + reccomendations
https://www.last.fm/user/Bubbe40/library
If you want you can add reccomendations that would improve the impression !
(The random names are singers in musicals, ex. Heathers, HEATHERS IS JUST A CURRENT HYPERFIXATION WITH BANGER MUSIC)
Thank you ^^
Trying a compatibility check
Majority of my scrobbles come from Q4 of last year and then this year so there's a lot of activity missing. https://www.last.fm/user/Heymansco
Please Show Me Your Weekly 5x5!!
Hello my friends,
I hope you had a wonderful week & weekend. It went entirely too fast and I’m sad it’s over. I spent time with my boyfriend and saw Toy Story 5, and Supergirl, both which were great!
Please know that I truly do miss talking to you guys and I’m so sorry that I’m so incredibly behind on responding to comments. Life has been busier than I can explain, but I promise I will get there by the end of the summer!
Listened to alot of Bad Bunny & Daddy Yankee this week, in addition to my usuals haha
Anyway, I can’t wait to see everyone’s!! You can generate this grid by going to https://www.last.fm/labs/album-quilt or using tapmusic.net.
If you find that yours has a lot of blanks, try using this to recover some cover art! https://www.chartmymusic.com/lastfm/rainbowcollage/ 🙂

Methodology: Chart is generated using the last.fm data from everyone signed up. Position is determined based on several factors
- Raw scrobbles: Heavy users are weighted down slightly here to prevent one user from influencing the chart too much
- Number of listeners: How many profiles listened to the artist/album/track in the last week
- Weekly position: Placing in a user's top 10 gives a bonus to an artist with increased bonuses for positions 1-5
Methodology is not perfect and is a work in progress but is designed to account relatively equally for different levels of activity.
- Olivia Rodrigo holds off tough competition to stay at number one on all three charts as you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love spends its 4th week at number one. No new records this week but 10 songs remain in the top 20 and drop dead hits 12 weeks on the chart. Longest charting song currently in the top 20.
- Madonna's CONFESSION II gives her a big week at number 2 on both the artist and album charts. Also manages to get 7 songs on the top 20 including Danceteria which hits number 6. Album is great, such a big return to form for her so glad people are checking it out. Album just manages to secure the 20th best opening for the chart. As Madonna secures the 16th best week.
- Congratulations fellow older users an artist we know of is in the top 3!
- Slayyyter will never go away, but for the first time all of the songs did! For the first time since the album released we have no songs from WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA in the top 20! Album stays at number 3 though as its insane run continue.
- Ken Carson is this week's other big new release, Xperiment debuts at number 12 on the chart. Curious if it will be one of those ones that stays around for a while.
- Kim Petras' Detour, Boards of Canada's Inferno and aespa's Lemonade - The 2nd Album all manage to secure a 6th week on the chart, this albums seem to be showing a lot of staying power. Especially Kim Petras.
- Carly Rae Jepsen's On Wires and Phoebe Bridgers Lost Boys both stay in the same position in week 2, managing to repeat at 13 and 17 despite the new competition.
- Katy Perry's Let It Burns manages to sneak into the top 40 this week, receiving number 37.
- Three albums made it into the all-time top 20 this week
- Radiohead's OK Computer at number 18
- Taylor Swift's The Life of a Showgirl at number 19
- Sabrina Carpenter's Short n' Sweet at number 20
- Charli xcx's Wink Wink has a much stronger second week after an underwhelming debut, moving up to number 2 this week. So curious to see how this album will do overall.
- Beabadoobee's Sun has Set does not hold on as well, dropping to number 38 this week. She seems to always have big week ones and then a drop off.
Community Spotlights:
- dylanonfire88 repeats as our number 1 Olivia listener this week with 356 scrobbles.
- shimishimitin seems to be loving the album though with 216 scrobbles last week.
- haechbit has kept stupid song on repeat, listening 38 times!
Any feedback people have or would like to see in future let me know, let me know thoughts on Community Spotlights and the all time list.
Albums released on this date (5 July)
Hello!!! I'm thinking of starting a new thing here. I hope people find it cool and useful (it is a community of music nerds after all)..if not I guess I won't keep doing it 😂 but tldr for other discord servers every day I compile a list of albums that came out on this date. Albums that are bolded are celebrating milestones ending in 5 or 0 (this year that would be years ending in 1 or 6)
I cross references a variety of sources to compile this list. Do you have a favorite album released on this date? What's your song from your favorite album released today? If you don't have one do you have a particular association with any of these albums or artists?
Also are there any July 5 albums I missed? Please let me know in the comments!
Without further ado:
JULY 5

looking to expand on my music taste
my last fm is https://last.fm/user/webslut, i would love any recommendations on any genre, artist, or band. im actually looking for more classical music lmao. but literally recommend me anything. thanks
Compatibility Check? 10k+ artist count.
I've been told I have a higher than average unique artist count, so I'm curious how that impacts the compatibility rating.
people who make chatGPT bios for songs/albums: what do you gain from doing this??
this is a genuine question. there are a lot of websites out there that reward users for doing stuff like this, and so i would understand someone's internal justification for it in cases like that, but...last.fm doesn't really reward anybody for doing that in any way. in fact, you kind of have to go out of your way to even see who writes the bio on any page at all. so what is the point? is it just annoying to see a page without a bio?? i don't get it.
Do I need to go pro now?
And that is only the top half of the page. I only go to the website just to make sure it is tracking my music. Other than that, I am not on it much, but the ads do get a bit annoying 😅
