Age 22 | Beginner investor | Started investing recently from past 3 months start at March 2026 till on going| Portfolio review | High risk | Long-term horizon

Hi everyone, Myself age 22 and started investing in mutual funds in March 2026. I’m at the beginning of my career and currently invest around ₹9,000 per month sip. I plan to increase my monthly investment as my income grows. Here are the details required for the portfolio review:

  1. Risk Appetite: Aggressive/ High My risk appetite is aggressive. I am comfortable with market volatility and drawdowns, especially for my long-term goals.
  2. Investment Goals My current goals are: ₹10 lakh for house reconstruction or related expenses before age 30. ₹50–60 lakh around age 37 for future financial needs and wealth creation. ₹1 crore+ by age 60 for retirement and long-term financial security.
  3. Investment Horizon My approximate investment horizons are: House goal: 5–8 years ₹50–60 lakh goal: around 15 years Retirement goal: 35+ years Since these goals have very different time horizons, I would like advice on whether the shorter-term house goal should be planned separately from my long-term equity investments.
  4. Monthly Investment and Allocation I invest approximately ₹9,000 per month. My current funds are: Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund Direct Growth HDFC Mid Cap Fund Direct Growth Bandhan Small Cap Fund Direct Growth Currently, I do not follow a fixed percentage allocation among these three funds. I vary the amount depending on relative market performance and corrections. One of the main reasons I am asking for a portfolio review is to understand whether I should use a fixed target allocation instead. My current invested amounts at the time of the screenshot are: HDFC Mid Cap: ₹4,085 Bandhan Small Cap: ₹3,000 Parag Parikh Flexi Cap: ₹2,043 Total invested: ₹9,128 Current value: ₹9,546 I understand that around three months is too short to judge the performance of mutual funds, so I am mainly asking for feedback on portfolio construction and future allocation.
  5. App Used I use Groww for investing in and tracking my mutual funds.
  6. Why I Selected These Funds Parag Parikh Flexi Cap: I selected it as the core diversified fund in my portfolio. HDFC Mid Cap: I selected it for mid-cap exposure and higher long-term growth potential, while accepting higher volatility. Bandhan Small Cap: I selected it for small-cap exposure and higher long-term growth potential. I understand that this category can experience significant drawdowns and periods of underperformance. I selected one fund from each category because my original idea was to have a flexi-cap fund as the core, with mid-cap and small-cap exposure for additional long-term growth. I am still a beginner, so I would like feedback on the following: Is this three-fund portfolio suitable for my goals? How should I allocate the ₹9,000 monthly investment among these three funds? Should I use a fixed target allocation instead of changing contributions based on market performance? Should my ₹10 lakh house goal be handled separately because of its shorter 5–8 year horizon? Do I need a Nifty 50 index fund, or would it create unnecessary overlap with my flexi-cap fund? As my income increases, should I simply increase contributions to these funds or change the portfolio structure? I’m looking for feedback on my allocation, goal planning, risk level and portfolio structure. Thanks.

Age 22 | Beginner investor | Started investing recently from past 3 months start at March 2026 till on going| Portfolio review | High risk | Long-term horizon

Hi, my self age 22 and recently started investing in mutual funds.

Currently invested around ₹9.1k across 3 funds. I’m still at the beginning of my career, so the amount is small for now, but I plan to increase my SIP gradually as my income grows.

My current portfolio consists of a flexi-cap fund, mid-cap fund and small-cap fund. My intention is to keep the flexi cap as the core and use mid and small caps for higher long-term growth potential.

My goals are roughly:

₹10 lakh for house-related needs before age 30

₹50–60 lakh around age 37

₹1 crore+ long-term corpus by age 60

I understand that my portfolio is aggressive and that mid and small caps can have large drawdowns. I’m comfortable with volatility for my long-term goals, but I’m not sure whether this allocation is appropriate considering that one of my goals is less than 8 years away.

I would appreciate feedback on the overall portfolio structure and allocation. Should I continue with these 3 funds and focus on increasing my SIP, or should I add a Nifty 50 index fund for more stability?

Also, should I build a separate lower-risk portfolio for the house goal instead of mixing short- and long-term goals in the same equity portfolio?

Looking for suggestions on allocation and portfolio structure. Thanks.
