Is this bad for my silver plus tradescantia?

My friend is a big plant girl and a few months ago she gave me a small snipping off of one of her plants she had. Fast forward to now it's doing great, has strong stems, big nodes, and healthy leaves. I've propagated off of it about four times before just now. I'm waiting to get a bigger pot to put them in (I know their roots are a lot) I'll attach the babies as well, but I am scared for my main plant. As far as how much light it gets, it hangs down from my windowsill inside that faces west and today when I was watering it I noticed that where it bends on my pot is starting to look dead. I panicked and snipped all of the sprouts off and planted them into the pot along with it. I'm scared it's going to cut off the circulation to the rest of the plant and die off. Is this normal?
