A bird laid eggs on my plant! A dream!

Noticed this bird chilling on my plant on Sunday and when I checked it made a nest. Today, Tuesday, I saw it there again. Decided to check and saw that it had laid two eggs. 🥹🥹♥️

ID this beauty please ☺️

Can someone ID this beauty and let me know if I can top water? It’s still in the gigantic nursery pot and I just realized there aren’t any drainage holes…so the nursery must have been top watering I guess? How are the leaves not demolished?

Tradescantia troubles...

Hey everyone 😅

Short version... Very Mismarked plant... So which kind (color) of Tradescantia are these guys?

Long version :

So my husband knows I’ve been on the HUNT for a Moses in the Cradle (Tradescantia spathacea) forever, and he surprised me by bringing some home from Home Depot today. Super sweet.

BUT… I started looking at them closer and now I’m sitting here going... Wait a minute!

So, I asked in a few I'd groups and was suggested to come here after accepting the fact these are Wandering - 😣

Trouble is I've tried about 4 times to keep them alive and aside from a nanouk I kept alive for about 2 years (a gift from a green thumb sister) I have failed every attempt since.

So any idea which tradescantia this one is, I'll keep one of the 4 and try again

Help

I bought this a while ago and was hoping that it would start to look better. Anybody have some ideas on what I can do to make this less brown?

Tradescantia running out of space?

I propagated a few pieces and had them in a 12cm pot for quite a while. They seemed to be doing great but I didn't expect them to grow so many additional stems (and new ones keep appearing) so now they seem to be a bit cramped plus some roots have started to grow out of the holes.

Would it be enough to divide them into two pots? Are they fine like this? Any other recommendations?

What a find!

Got this massive beauty at Home Depot! It has thick leaves like a Nanouk. Anyone know what variety?

Propagation: cut or dried?

I was fortunate to get some cuttings.
I’ve read that rooting can work well in water or soil, I’m planning to try water just so I can see progress (or lack of). Then once a decent amount of roots, transfer to soil.

Is it best to have the end in water cut (like flowers), or dried up (like succulents, where my main plant experience comes from)?

I did try a cursory search here and elsewhere online…both techniques are mentioned as viable, but no clarity on which might have best chance for success.

TIA, first time post on this sub, and first time propping Purple Heart (though years of succulent/cactus propagation).

Help ID please 🙏🏼

First plant is a cutting from the second plant. The cutting is getting early morning sun and the second plant (mother) is under a tree. Thanks in advance!

Is this a mealybug?

This is a cutting from the mother plant and there seems to be a little on the main plant but not nearly as bad as this. Is this concerning and how do I fix this?

What variety is this?

This is in a wide east facing windowsill in the break room at work and gets several hours of morning sunshine. I want to say zebrina but my zebrina isn’t as purple as this and it also has textured leaves that almost look silvery glittery. This one has smooth leaves with no sparkle at all. The very last picture is my plant. Are there zebrina varieties too or is one of these not like the other?

Clay pebbles for tradescantia nanouck?

Has anyone keep their tradescantia nanouck in leca? I’ve been putting the propagates into leca and they’re growing well. I wonder if I should transfer them into soil or just keep them in leca. The roots seem happy there and there’re new grow too. 🌱
Would love to see more thoughts 🙂

My indoor Nanouk is blooming!

Like the title says, my INDOOR nanouk is blooming! Brought this plant home at the beginning of last September (last pic) and it’s the first tradescantia I’ve ever owned. I’ve had houseplants for years, but just got into these recently when I saw a little pink and green striped plant at my local nursery one day for $5 and scooped it up.

I’ve learned a decent amount about them in that short time because this is the fastest growing houseplant I’ve ever owned. After just a month with this thing I started researching and also found this sub. I wanted to learn more about these plants mostly because 1, they’re pretty with all of their pink and purple coloring, and 2, their growth rate is just bonkers.

Anyway, from what I’ve learned, my understanding is that it’s somewhat rare for an indoor nanouk to bloom, right? My newer zebrina pink princess blooms all the time, but that’s pretty common with that variety. And, my nanouk does get great light next to a window, but still is a bit leggy and does get occasional browning on the leaves. I chop and prop her often.

Except for this and one other long stem she grew because she branched out from those stems. I wasn’t expecting her to branch out on her own like this, so when I saw it, I left it. And, then I saw a flower today and was stoked! But, I’m not a veteran tradescantia grower, so I’m asking, is it really rare for a fully indoor nanouk to bloom?

How to recover my tradescanzia?

My beautiful tradescanzia baby is not in her best shape and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
I’m water it only when I feel the soil dry, is in a sunny space il with direct light only a few hours early morning. I’ve tried to cut the long edges but is not getting better. I also thought that can be a seasonal condition. Any suggestion?
Thank you!

My propped tradescantia is blooming

Now I can genuinely understand the excitement looking at every new little leaf

I got this one when it had just 4 leaves, and now I'm amazed looking at how much it grew in just a few months

And those little white flowers too!
