Ursula is a BEAST

EDIT to add: That is a PAPER TOWEL roll. XD it's sitting on the table among all the cuttings. Those are all multi-branched clippings that I hadn't sorted yet. Lol

This is Ursula Gen 2. I did a full pot reset less than a year ago (last 2 photos; 23 Aug, 2025) and she has grown SO much.

I did a big chop last night, and I still need to go back in and do some pruning. I had a literal curtain of her blocking one of my shelves. If anyone ever says there's no good beginner plant, I'm going to hand them 5 cuttings. 😂 she's thrived on neglect (mental health made caring for my plants really difficult for a few months)

Mutant Leaf? What is this??

My t. padilla (I think, it was a mystery gifted cutting) just recently popped out this weird looking leaf.

Did it just fuse while forming? It's made a pocket/tube, but it's just really odd. Has anyone else seen this?

Mothra's upgrade! My first Monstera

Mothra is my first monstera that came from a cutting off of my friend's plant, Godzilla. She had some weird moments, but once we got oriented, she's grown consistently!

Well, I knew she was outgrowing her old pot, but didn't realise she was THIS root-bound. I had to cut off a 10"+ root that had come out the bottom and was wrapping into the drip tray. 🤣 and another that grew from one hole in the bottom to another, trapping her in. The whole bottom section was shaped like the little legs the pot had.

I tried to see if there was any way to loosen the root ball.... nope. It's 90% roots, 8% perlite, and 2% soil. 🤣😂🤣😂

So, I got her in a 22qt pot now. I know the wood isn't the most ideal kind, but it's what I have right now. I plan to upgrade to a cedar plank that's much wider when I can and fix her soil mix. It's good nutrient-rich soil but needs more monstera focused amendments.

Anyway. She's so pretty in her new pot. 🥰 I feel like I didn't get to truly appreciate her beauty until now. I'm so awestruck by her.

Wild tree? Bush?

Southern Kentucky

I have found two of these volunteer guys now growing under what I was told is a honey locust tree. They don't match the tree, and I know it's not the holly or rose.

We *do* have a mulberry bush next to the mailboxes, and it does seem similar to that, but I'm not sure. If it is mulberry, I was considering pulling it up to plant in a pot since we rent, and I have been wanting a mulberry.

The bigger tree has been a nesting spot for multiple generations of mockingbirds. Most recently, though, there have been Cardinals and robins all over it in the spring, with some grackles and starlings that come through from time to time. We have plenty of smaller birds, too, like tits, sparrows, finches, chickadees, and more. So, I'm pretty sure that's how it got there. 😂😂

Anyway, I tried to get as many angles as possible.

  1. Full plant

  2. Branch connections

  3. Base/ground, bark

  4. Leaf connections

  5. Newest growth

  6. Mature leaf

  7. Underside of mature leaf

Leaves are thin, and mildy soft without being overly furry. They reminded me of grape leaves at first, which is why I investigated. Newer leaves are waxier

Thank you in advanced!!

Seeds!?!?‽

I was doing my usual look overs today and noticed something odd on my spiderplant's stalk. It wasn't a flower or a spiderling... it's... seeds?!

I'm fairly certain this is a seed pod! I'm so excited! I didn't know this was possible, well at least not indoors. 😂🤣

Progress updates! Tips?

I got a jade cutting from a friend last Halloween that was looking rough. I prayed and hoped, and got these two (three?) Little guys from two leaf props!!

One of the parent leaves has since broken off, but the other seems fine?

They're in small 1.5in pots right now, but I was wondering if it would be fine to move them to a 4in? It's hard to keep track of watering right now with them being so small.

My first flower

My p. Cyclosecta flowered!!! 🥰🥹 She's so perfect. She's such a deep purple in person.

I was so worried I messed them up while I was in the hospital. I'm so glad she's thriving

I'm so stupid excited over this 😂

I went to the mental hospital for a week, then was in a partial hospitalization program for 4 weeks after that. During that time, I hadn't really had the energy to check on all my plants.

So, I'm finally getting to my plants in my bedroom, and I was checking my mixed pothos pot and found this!!!

This was a mystery green pothos. I was gifted it as my first pothos ever and was told it's a "green globe" variety, but she wasn't very sure. I didn't really care as I was just happy to have a pothos.

SHE GAVE ME VERIGATION!!! I'm screaming!!! My partner is like "wow. Cool" (she's not a plant girlie beyond her cactus Jorge, and her English Ivy, Hermes) so, i wanted to share with folks who get the hype.

One of my neons (not pictured) has given me a dark green freckle on two leaves, but they're like . <-- actual size This, though?! GAH i am over the MOON. I don't CARE if it's just a sport verigation, I love her.
